CHAPTER 12

When I came to I was laying on one of the infirmary beds. Instantly I stood up and stared hard at the infirmary door.

"Zoe! What happened?!" I looked at kazumi who was up from her bed looking worried.

I looked all around . Where was she?

There was no one.

Was it my imagination?

"ZOE!" kazumi almost shouted as I made eye contact with her coming back to my senses.

"I dunno... headache!" I replied looking down at my hands.

I sighed when I saw the look on all of their faces. They didn't believe me.

Why had I recalled my past. I wondered

"She saw a vision of her past" chase said in his soft voice.

I stared at him angrily but he avoided eye contact with me.

"I have the power to see anything remember? Your mind included" he said .

"yea I did so what?" I asked annoyed

"It was not normal.... For a second I could feel a different energy coming out from you Zoe.." kazumi was hesitating to tell me something. I wish I had chase's power now. I thought.

I could have read off her mind.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

" For a second I felt a vampire energy coming out form you from you Zoe...and your aura was heavy black and had bits of gold in it" she said

"that.. that cant be true! Im a full human." I said abit louder.

"we all felt it" Weiss said shaking her head. "Congratulations newbie you got promoted"

Something about her tone annoyed me.

But that was not what was bothering . why had I heard Lissa's giggle back then? It was hers. I'd known her giggle anywhere. And why did I get a sudden memory flash?

There was still some pain lingering at the back of my head as if someone had just hit me with something heavy.

"That was Arcane magic which was cast on you" the infirmary teacher said as she examined me. Everyone around me looked confused and shocked at the same time.

"but that is impossible" Chase said and for the first time I saw worry take over his handsome features.

We walked out of the infirmary and headed towards the benches at the garden.

"What do you mean?" kazumi asked.

"Arcane magic is a type of magic that lets the withholder of it gain control of their enemies' bodies movements and everything. Also can travel through different realms .It can only be used at limited time and consumes extreme amount of energy. But that's not what surprises me is that..." Chase paused suddenly lost in thought

"that Arcane magic has been long gone. It only existed in the ancient times. We don't know when or how it got diminished." Weiss finished his sentence for him.

"who possessed it at first?" I asked.

"no one knows..it's a mystery.." Jordan said slumping down on the chair.

"There must be someone who knows" kazumi said .

"the library!" I exclaimed.

"what? Zoe come on can we please focus on the topic now. We can go there later" Jason said sighing loudly.

I gave him an annoyed look and continued. "The library always has all the answers. Maybe we could check whether there is anything about the history of this magic"

"but why do you want to find it out so desperately?" kazumi asked looking at me with curiosity

"yea it's not like we will be able to use it for the war" Weiss pointed out.

"No...I just have a feeling it may be of some use to us... besidesI've decided long ago to find out more about the history of this place form the moment I heard the story from Jason" I said.

"so then how about Weiss and Jason go over to the library to find the information while me , Chase and kazumi will go track out the spies and take them out one by one." I said

"Oh come on! No please take me with you guys! Urmm how about kazumi and I switch?" Jason asked with a smile on his face.

"What's up with HIM?" I asked

"He just can't tolerate libraries or anything which he calls dorky" Chase said to me.

I laughed and watched and watched as Weiss dragged Jason away with her.

"Speaking of which I know of someone who can get us the information we want" Chase said.

"Well who is it?" kazumi asked impatiently.

"It's a childhood friend of mine, he is an C ranker but he has contacts with the royals due to his unique intelligence. You could say he is the knowledge of the whole school" Chase replied.

"well then what are we waiting for? Lets go"I said

Just as we were about to head away someone blocked our way.

It was steve and he had the same annoying grin on his face.

I stared back at him with eyes full of hate.

The air around us was tense. Neither of us said anything .

Then I decided to speak up.

"what ? come back for more of the burns?" I asked.

"oh please! Don't flatter yourself. What kind of tricks did you use to poision me?"steve asked his face suddenly turning into a grimace.

"will you leave us alone? Don't you have anything better to do?" Kazumi spoek up.

Steve glared at her and kazumi flinched.

I knew she was still horrified after the event.

"ohh I see this little rat has woken up. Wheres that white haired bitch?" Steve mocked

We didn't answer him

"oh wait. Still unconscious" he laughed.

I felt anger rise in me and was about to dash towards him but Chase stopped me.

"there is no use fighting with this midget. We have better things to do Zoe" he sai din his calm quiet voice.

I instantly calmed down and turned around to walk away.

"running away are we?" I heard Steve say but I ignored him and followed chase.
