There were once commanders in an army who had their soldiers strenuously digging trenches, but the commanders themselves just stood there and watched, barking orders. A man on a horse rode up to the scene and asked the commanders why they weren't helping the men digging the trenches. They answered, "We are commanders in the army, they are beneath us so they get to build the trenches for us on our orders."
The man on the horse got off his horse and jumped into the trenches with the soldiers and began helping them dig the trench.
The commanders asked why he did this.
The man answered, "A true leader must always serve those below them."
And the man's name was George Washington.
