A girl about 5'6'' with eyes as verdant as lush pastures and long beautiful ginger hair was standing in front of me, she was Paige, my best friend.
"Aurora!!" she said with such enthusiasm.
"Paige, What's going on?" I said curiously.
"Remember that guy I really like."
"No. I can't really keep up with all the guys you talk to me about everyday." I said annoyed.
"Anyway, He's name is Adrian and he has a friend that's in town so, I was wondering if you want to double-"
"Date." I cut her off. "hmm, let me think about it, No. Actually, I came here because I thought you were in trouble; I was worried." I responded harshly.
"Well, as you can see I'm fine, I don't know why you would think that."
I'm now beyond mad. I thought she was actually in trouble, she always does this and I hate going on blind dates, I'd actually rather swim in a tank full of sharks because it would be so much more exciting than going on a date with a complete stranger that would try to shove their tongue down my throat in the end.
"Please, I really like him. I think he's amazing." she begged on her knees
"You say that about every single guy you meet, It's getting ridiculous!"
"Oh my god. Please last time I promise."
"Fine, but you owe me big time."
"Of course I do, It's tonight at 8 were going to a concert."
"Yeah, whatever. I have to go." I sassed rolling my eyes.
"Ohh. Ok, You're not mad, right?"
"No, not at all. Umm, I have to get back home and help my mom around the house." I was lying.
"Perfect. I'll see you tonight. Wear something hot." She winked at me.
I walked out of her house, along the brick path straight to my car. When I finally got home, I noticed somebody had left a note on the door mat. I picked it up to read it.
"Rorie, I went out for the evening, I won't be back until about 12. If you need anything just call my cell. XOXO, Mom."
That's weird, my mom never goes out without telling me a couple days before and she definitely doesn't stay out until 12, something was up. I know she's a grown woman but I was getting the same unsure feeling as I did this morning. I unlocked the door, stepping inside slowly grasping the first thing I could find for protection, a purple umbrella. I felt like a ninja as I checked slowly and swiftly around the first floor of my house. Ten minutes had passed so I walked gently upstairs checking the three rooms but there was no one. I was feeling a lot more secure after checking the whole house. I'm just going to lay down for a few minutes.
* * *
I opened my eyes and looking down at the watch on my wrist, it was now seven and I haven't even taking a shower yet or chosen what I was going to wear, I'll take a shower first so I grabbed a white cotton towel from my closet and turned on the faust for hot water. It only took me fifteen minutes to get cleaned up. I kept my wet brown hair in a high bun and rambled over to my closet.
"Uhh, what should I put on?" I whispered to myself.
I immediately remembered what Paige had said before I left, "Wear something hot." My tight black long-sleeved dress paired with some cheetah print pumps, would clearly be hot. As I squeezed into the dress, my phone began to ring. I hopped over to my bed and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Rorie, it's Paige. Hurry up it's already seven thirty and you're not here!"
"Calm down, I'm getting dressed. I have to go, bye."
"but-"
I hung up the call before she started rambling on about what she was wearing. I don't have time for that. I needed to finish squeezing into this dress and I still haven't done my makeup. When I finally won the fight, I sprinted to my bathroom to get my makeup on, something simple should do, as I finished putting on my blush, I decided just to use a thin black line on the top of my eyelids. I let go of my long hair, shaking it out and put on my high heels. One last look in the mirror and I was off.
I got there at eight fifteen -I wasn't that late-, I found them waiting for me in front her house in a black Range Rover. The first thing I hear as I take my first step out of the car is Paige yelling.
"Rorie, Hurry up." she hollered.
"I'm coming, I'm coming. It's not the end of the world."
"Just get in."
I sat down, getting my seat belt on.
"Hi."
I jumped because of the raspy voice that had just greeted me, I began to get goosebumps on my arms. The feeling is so familiar but I couldn't remember when I had felt like this before.
"I didn't mean to scare you." he apologized.
"Don't worry about it."
I don't know why I can't think straight. My heart's pounding against my chest. I was trying to keep my calm but this guy was tearing me apart me. I started to look down at my lap, just to see I was fiddling with my fingers.
"My name's Harry, by the way." he said in a husky tone.
