The fog was in my eyes, my boat was making a creaky sound now, and I had no idea what was ahead of me.

"So, what exactly are we looking for?" I heard Tom ask from a distance.

"I don't even think I know." I replied. We kept paddling, silence all the way. I saw something in the shape of an island, and all of a sudden I smelled the strangest thing.

"Kool-aid?" I asked Tom, bewildered.

"Am I dreaming?" He asked in a low voice.

I stopped the boat. Where are we?...

"I think we're lost." Tom said. Did he just read my mind?

"We can't be lost if we weren't exactly looking for anything." I answered

"I guess your right."

I still smelled Kool-aid. I put my hand in the water. It did feel strange. Tom was looking around like we were in a creepy old mansion.

"Esther?" He asked.

"Yeah?"

"I don't think you should do that."

"Why not?" I was scared now. Oh Esther, you're 15 years old, knock yourself out of it, the water smells like kool-aid. SO WHAT. I thought. I didn't even know what I was afraid of. I turned my attention back to Tom.

"Look" he said, pointing to a spot in the water. I looked. A big shape came shooting out of the water, then submerging. My eyes went wide. That thing was bigger than any fish I had ever seen.

"What was that!?" I asked, trembling. Now I had a reason to be scared. It sounds rediculous, but if you described this place to a six- year old, he would be jumping up and down with exitement.

Now, if you took him here, he'd be crying and demanding to go home.

Hey Jimmy! Y' know there's a place where the water is Kool- aid and really big fish jump out of the water!? Cool right!?

No. Not cool.

I zoned back to reality. Tom was staring at me.

"Ummm... I don't know what it is, but you better get your hand out of the water before it bites you." I looked down to find my hand peacefully resting in the water. I took it out in a nano -second.

I glanced at Tom, then at Raymond. Raymond was sound asleep, unaware of the situation. His tail lay on my shoe, and his head on Tom's backpack.

I shook him awake with my foot. He got up, still drowsy. He walked to my side of the boat and put his head over the edge. He looked at me after smelling Kool-aid.

"What? You scared too?" I asked. Immidiately, he started barking at the water.

"Woah nelly! Hey hey hey!" Tom yelled, putting his hands up. Raymond walked over to him and layed down on his lap.

"Oh, alright. But just for a little while, ya hear?" Tom said. Raymond licked his face. I laughed. I wasn't so scared anymore, knowing that there was an 108 pound Labrador Retriever ready to protect me at any moment.

I felt curious about the island figure ahead. I stared at it.

"Shouldn't we get a better look at that wierd island ahead?" I asked Tom, still staring at the island.

"Okay, but it's pretty far..."

"C'mon, just help me!!"

We paddled until we reached a small group of fish. We got closer and saw them enjoying their life and jumping from the water. We got closer. My eyes widened.

"Swedish fish? What the heck is going on in this place?!" I backed away from the fish.

"C'mon," said Tom. "The water is Kool-aid, KOOL-AID!"

"Well yeah, but I never thought candy was alive!!"

"You do have a point there...Whatever, let's go to the island." We got closer to the jelly bean- smelling island. We were 10 feet away. Then 5. 4, 3, 2,..

We docked the boat and I zoned out.

What if this is a dream? There is no island that is made of candy in real life. But it seems so real... birds in the sky, plants...Besides, Tom is in it, and I would never have a dream with him in it. I blushed. Atleast I don't think so.

I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Are you getting out or what?" Tom asked me, already getting out of the boat.

I got out.

Tom stopped mid-step when he saw what the island really was.

"Where am I?" I heard him say, not knowing if he wanted anyone to hear him. My only answer would be I don't know.
