The remaining four awoke the next morning, their minds clear and ready to continue with what had been placed before them so many weeks ago in the basement of a New York City skyscraper.
Analeigh and Seokmin were the first to stumble out of their hotel rooms, Seokmin knocking on the door of Analeigh's just as she went to knock on his.
"Perfect timing," The brunette said to the smiling male in front of her. His eyes and cheeks were still puffy from sleep. Seokmin nodded.
There was an awkward silence before the two agreed to make Hoshi go wake up May and Mingyu- specifically May, who was even bossier in the mornings.
This idea became a reality twenty minutes or so later, when Soonyoung pulled himself out of bed. He met the other two, as well as Seungcheol in the hallway.
"Why me?" He whined, pouting.
Seungcheol sighed. "Just go already-"
"What if they're.."
"Naked? You and Seokmin used to be naked all the ti-"
Hoshi's face flushed red as he quickly shushed Seungcheol and pushed open the beige hotel room door.
His eyes creaked open. There was.. no one? He peeked in the bathroom and shower, as well as the small closet.
"They're not here."
"What?" Analeigh answered from the hallway.
"They're seriously not here." Those four words sent the rest of the agents into the room.
As the idea settled, it became more clear that the room was left in a disheveled mess. The bed sheets were ripped open (May usually would have had a fit if Mingyu didn't make them), files were scattered on the dresser, and a few electrical chords from Mingyu's mobile lab were left behind.
All eyes drifted to the leader.
Seungcheol didn't know what to say. He hated to draw conclusions, but he knew what had happened.
The couple was too strong to be kidnapped, which only left one other option. They left.
Mingyu and May were loyal. There didn't seem to be anything that would drag the two out of their promises and onto the opposing side- for May at least. He figured it was a chain reaction.
Many years ago, a fellow SCA agent had saved Mingyu's life. Having your life saved meant owing your life to your savior. Soon after, that agent disappeared.
And now, Seungcheol knew exactly where he went.
After he disappeared, bigger threats began to form, and most had avoided the SCA's advances as if they knew what was coming. Everything began to add up.
-
May shivered.
The tunnel was damp and cold, as well as completely silent except for the echoing of their footsteps and occasional beep of one of Mingyu's small computers.
She followed behind the taller male, switching in between watching his back and watching her feet step through the small amount of water at the bottom of the tunnel.
"Who knew Tokyo had catacombs." She stated what really should have been a question.
She heard Mingyu hum a reply.
Was he thinking what she was thinking? That they were betraying someone who had trusted them, and in return they had trusted? What would happen if they were caught? She doubted Seungcheol would show mercy after this, and neither would Hoshi or Seokmin- they knew how these things went. What about Analeigh? She was newer to this and less stiff. She would follow Seungcheol, no doubt.
