everything was so bright, and colorful. everyone was alive. Thomas was only four, and liked to explore his grandpas giant, old, dusty house. there was so much to see! the sun shined through the dusty windows, a beautiful bright yellow with a hint of gray. Thomas had brown hair, and always wore blue or orange. he wanted to be his own hero. he never met his so called "mom and dad" that his friends lived with. he only lived with his grandma and grandpa. he never knew that his mom and dad were dead, never had a clue. he always just thought he was special, too special for "parents". maybe he was. he decided to go play in the snow and told his grandpa about it. his grandma dressed him up nice and warm and let him go play. he skipped outside and started making a snowman, when he heard loud noises coming from the house across the street. he skipped over to the house, curious. he heard a scream and by instinct ran to go "save the day". he ran inside the house, the door unlocked. he heard another scream and ran into the room where the noises were coming from. he noticed a tall, shadowy man standing over a beaten woman. he saw a strange object that looked like a squirt gun in the mans hand. the woman looked at the boy, and suddenly the "squirt gun" made a loud, banging noise. a strange thing went inside the woman's head, and red liquids spilled onto the wall and the floor. the boy stood there, trying to process this. his brain told him she had been killed, but he shook his head, denying this.

"she is still alive. she's just playing with red water.." he thought. the man turned, and looked straight at Thomas. Thomas gasped and ran, knowing the man was right behind him. he ran out the door and into the snow, screaming and crying for his grandparent.

"GRANDPA!!! GRANDMA!!!" he screamed, just as the man grabbed his jacket. the elderly grandparents ran out the door and called 911. the man was put to jail. but Thomas never forgot that day, where the red liquids come from the woman's head, and the man. Thomas never really saw his face until court, where he was forced to point to the man and tell everyone he witnessed that the man did it. Thomas never forgot the day everything went colorless.
