Sonnet Tribute

The ev'ning shades are deepening in hue,

And the Nightingale sings her lovely song;

Come see the lea and watch the Twilight too,

As the Curfew bells start to toll and gong.

The Moon starts to ascend and mount the skies,

And moping owls again start to complain;

The last of Summer's hold and Fireflies

Are seen, and clouds form—distant coming rain.

Still the Tree Toad chirps and the Beetles drone,

The perfume of the last Musk Rose I smell;

Autumn shall quickly fade and I do moan,

So like Death, Winter occupies the dell.

All of the melancholy thoughts disband,

And may happy thoughts lead you by the hand!
