(Jack's P.O.V)
The next morning I woke up to a loud alarm that scared me when I was at the edge of the bed and fell off. I heard the door open then footsteps running towards me as I tired to get up. "Thanks Mark," I said as he picked me up then turned off the alarm. "Your welcome. I guess Mrs. Silvia sent people to install a phone while we were out." "What kinda phone is that? It looks cool." "It's an advanced iPhone but a home phone that can do other things than call. It also comes with this," he said as he handed me one weird looking thing and a clear, see through iPhone. "The iPhone is yours to keep as a personal devise. The other one is what we like to call a hand band, it's to track you and make sure you are where your supposed to be, because of all the mysterious kidnappings. It had a mini iPhone in the middle and these metal things go in between your fingers so it doesn't fall off. And if you think that's cool just wait until you see the computer lab today since yesterday they didn't let us in for some reason." "Oh I can't wait." "Well than get dressed so we can start the day." "On it! But you have to get out so I can change!" "Okay okay, I'm goin, I'm goin."
Before we went to class Mark and I met up with Sophia and ate breakfast. "What's your first class Sophia?" I said eating my chocolate chip pancake. "I have Calculus first, Government second, Computer Science third, and athletics before lunch. Then I have English, Spanish, Anatomy and Dance class last. What do y'all have?" "Well we all have Calculus first, but then Mark and I have Anatomy second, then we all have computer science together. You and Mark both have athletics while I have Fine Arts before lunch. Then after that Mark and I have Government, then we all have Spanish together. Then Mark and I have English and Music together." "Cool so we basically have four classes because, the last class is all one class but we split into groups and work on different things to make one big show, where we all are together," Sophia said as we finished our breakfast and headed to class.
When we got to class we claimed our seats in the back of the classroom in order to avoid questions we have no answers to. We sat there in silence waiting for class to start. I looked at the doorway to see all the people who also had this class. There weren't very many so I looked away, but just as I was about to a girl stumbled in. She had long blond hair, and dressed like a goth hipster with glasses to complete the look. She had dropped her books so she quickly picked them up and rushed to take a seat at the desk in front of me. I gave her a small smile before she turned around and sat down in her chair. The teacher then came in as the bell rang signaling class had started. As Mrs. Taylor started talking I zoned out and thought about my family. "Hmm...I wonder what they are doing right now. Probably working as always, and Samatha probably had to sit and listen to a boring lecture like me. Why can't I be good at math? Why can't I be smart like this girl in front of me probably is? I wonder what her name is? Maybe we can be friends." My thoughts ended there for I heard someone call my name. "Jack! Come on let's all the of us be a group." "Huh...oh...uhh sorry I was zoned out. What are we doing?" "A project with these formulas she just taught us. Were you even paying attention?" "Uhh...no. Sorry Mark but your gonna have ta explain them to me. I promise next time I'll pay attention." "Okay," he said as he went on explaining everything. By the time he was done class was overso we made plans for later to start the project. We gathered our stuff as fast as possible and was our the door to head to our next class.
As Mark and I headed to anatomy, Sophia went to government. Mark dragged me to the back of the classroom where we would sit at and just stare blankly at the board like we gave a fuck. "Jack you know you have to take notes, right?" "Ugh I don't want to though." "You need them to study for the quizzes Mrs. Garner gives us every week." "Fine." As Mrs. Garner spoke I wrote down nbed bed otes every once and a while. When there was twenty minutes left Mrs. Garner handed us worksheets and told us we could work with partners. Mark and I were obviously gonna work together so we got to work. We didn't get much done though because Mark and I kept talking. Mrs. Garner got onto us and made us work in silence but that wasn't going to stop us.
After the bell rang Mark and I met up with Sophia and went to computer science. Mrs. Johnson is a really nice teacher, and is one of my favorites. Mark, Sophia and I took our seats as close to get desk as possible. When class started I actually listened to what she said. This class fascinated me cause we get to learn cool stuff. The whole class period she went over the basics to refresh our memories. Towards the end of the period she said that tomorrow she was going to start a lesson on how to build a computer. Then she said next month we were going to get into groups of four and try to make our own computer and see who makes the best working one as a competition. "Cool, let it be just us three. I bet well make the best computer ever," Mark said. I laughed a bit and our of the corner of my eye I saw the girl from this morning sitting all by herself. "Hey guys what about her? She looks like she doesn't have a partner." "Ya we could ask her if she would like to join our group and maybe we could all be friends," Sophia said. "Okay then Sophie you ask her if she would like to join us," Mark said. "Okay. I'll be right back. And since when am I Sophie?" "Since right now. Now go and ask her." "Okay," Sophia said then turned around and went to go talk to the girl.
When Sophia left Mark and I started talking about ideas. Soon later Sophia came back with the girl. "Hey guys this is Anastasia, she said she would love to join our group." "Hi Anastasia, I'm Mark and this is my best friend Jack," Mark said pointing at me. "Hi," Anastasia said. "Well come on let's talk about what the computer is going to be like," Mark said. The rest of the class period we talked about it and panned group meetings at each others dormrooms. Apparently Sophia and Anastasia share the same dorm so it was prefect. They were the only two because not very many people like them, which I cannot see why. We also planned to eat lunch together but Anastasia could not because she wad going to have to go in for a class to get help. When the bell rang we gathered our stuff and Anastasia and I went separate ways from Mark and Sophia.
I noticed as I was heading to fine arts, Anastasia was headed the same way. "Are you going to fine arts?" I asked. "Ya are you?" "Ya I am. Maybe we should sit together stop we can get to know each other more that we are friends," I said as we entered the classroom. "Sure but I get really into drawing and painting so expect any talking from me much," she said as we sat down at a big table. "Okay." After ten minutes of talking, Mrs. Winters have us a project. We had to draw ourselves with someone as if it was a picture. I knew what I wanted to draw so I started to sketch the rest of the period. The bell rang just as I finished sketching what I wanted. She announced it was to be due by the end of the week. "That's plenty of time for me, I bet I can finish it two days early," I thought to myself as I headed to meet up with Sophia and Mark.
During lunch, Sophia told us more about herself. Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was ten and was adopted by her two mom's later on. She loves them but she will never forget her parents or stop loving them. She has an adopted brother too, his name is Nathaniel. He is fifteen years old, and will turn sixteen on August seventh next year. Sophia also told us some of her memories of her family before they died. Five minutes later the bell rang signaling lunch time was over.
Mark and I then left for government which was boring. All we did was listen to Mr. Jackson talk about dead people whole taking notes I'll never study. The next class, Spanish, all for of us were together trying to talk in Spanish to each other. Mark and I were terrible at it but Anastasia and Sophia were almost perfect. Mr. Thompson had them have a conversation in front of the class to see if anyone knew what they were saying. English was just as terrible, Mark and I aren't very good with vocabulary words or writing poems or stories. Mr. Moore, I could tell, hated us so he assigned a five page essay about poetry that is due in two days.
The last class is my favorite. Mr. Halamicek was our music director, he is pretty cool. In music everyone plays an instrument, I play the drums while Mark plays the trumpet. Sophia is in dance class so she would be practicing her routine with those people. I could see Anastasia was in drama playing small roles not having to talk much. Even though we are spilt up, when we take a break we get to talk. In a couple of months we will start practicing as a whole for the big show we do at the end of the year as a send off to the seniors. When the bell rang we all stopped what we were doing and started to pack up our bags and go to our dorms and do our homework. The four of us made plans to meet outside of the dorm buildings so we could have fun and hangout. As we got closer to the dorm building we started to split up and head into our rooms to start working on homework so we could later see each other with our minds clear from failing the school year. As I looked at all the papers I knew this year wasn't going to be easy.
