My life started the day I got caught.

Dallon's PoV

Audrey shuts the door in my face without so much as a goodbye. I don't go anywhere. I know I shouldn't eavesdrop but there's something about Audrey I just can't trust.

"You know what to do. Tell me everything." I hear her hiss, and I step closer to the door. I hear the clink of metal that sounds like a belt.

"Audrey, I—"

"You were telling him everything, weren't you?" I hear her hiss.

"No, I promise I wasn't—" Brendon's voice is cut off by the sound of a harsh slap. I cover my mouth to avoid gasping out loud.

"Don't lie to me!" She growls.

"I promise I told him nothing!" He cries. Another slap. I wince.

"Then what exactly were you talking about?" She snaps.

"I was h-hardly talking a-at all. He wouldn't let me. He was saying I don't talk to any of them anymore and how I needed to find a balance and—"

"That prick needs to fuck off, then, doesn't he? You did nothing to defend me, I bet."

I hear a thump that sounds like someone being pushed over.

"P-Please, Audrey, you c-can't, I haven't healed properly yet... I need to..."

"Well that's your own fucking problem, isn't it?" She says with a laugh, and I hear a hideous thwack sound. I hear Brendon cry out in pain. A tear falls from my eye before I can stop it. I want to run as fast as I can but my feet won't take me anywhere. I'm frozen in place.

"Next time Dallon starts shoving his big nose in, you tell him to fuck off, because we're perfectly fine how we are." She says, and I hear the horrible noise again.

Fuck, I feel horrible. Brendon's being abused by her, and I was moaning at him for not spending time with us, well no fucking wonder. She won't let him do anything alone for fear of getting caught.

I listen to her forcing him to count them, then her forcing him to do a horrid series of violent and crude acts for her. I want to run in and help save him, but I'm so scared of her.

I hear the sounds of Brendon crying quietly when she's finally done.

"Right, well, I'm going to the bar. Get cleaned up. Meet you there in no more than ten minutes, okay?"

There's silence.

"Okay?!" Audrey shrieks, and there's a thump, followed by Brendon coughing violently.

"Yes!" He gasps. I hear her heels come closer to the door.

So what do I do?

I run for it like a disgusting coward. I go back to the dressing room and get lost in a conversation with Kenny about where I was, saying I was just checking with Brendon about the staging. And I lie through my teeth. I'm too scared to tell anyone for many reasons.

For starters, no one will ever believe me. Also, they'll all accuse me of jealously.

I'd always hated Audrey since they got together, because it sounds dreadful, but I thought it killed my chances of getting with Brendon. Now I know she's a foul piece of work who deserves to be behind bars. Brendon's in real trouble, and what am I doing about it?

Fucking nothing.
