It was 2 weeks ago now that Rey was hit by a bludger and she still suffered from a painful headache which she tried to avoid by taking medicine which madame Pomfrey gave her. She hated being like this and Oliver wouldn't let her train because he stated that she had to rest before she could go back on the field again. She was angry that he wouldn't let her but deep inside she knew that he was only trying to be a good captain. If only she could skip her lessons too, but that was not that easy.
Rey didn't really like the study of ancient runes but she was forced to do two electives in her third year and the only one she liked was care of magical creatures. She was sitting next to Thom who was fanatically writing down everything Professor Babbling said but Rey was laying with her head on her rune dictionary. She still had a terrible headache and translating a scripture didn't really help. She looked sideways at Thom who already translated his scripture in a matter of seconds. She smiled because she loves it when people are dedicated to something like she is to quidditch. Tom wanted to be a curse-breaker after all and runes and arithmancy were subjects that were very important if you wanted to be a curse-breaker.
Percy sat in front of her and turned around 'Already done Thom?' He said looking disappointed at his work because Percy didn't really like it when people were better at him
'Yeah I've been studying out all of my books as soon as I got them this summer.' Thom said smirking. Percy looked over at Rey and had this sadistic smile on his face which already annoyed Rey 'So Fawley, I can see that you even managed to get your dictionary out of your bag. That must be quite the accomplishment for your doing.' Percy said and Thom tilted his head away from his book and looked at Percy with a deadly gaze 'Give her a break Percy she was in the hospital for a week and now you're lecturing her about school work.' Thom put his hand on Rey's shoulder and Rey nodded at him in appreciation.
Rey always looked up at Thom as a brother and Thom considered Rey as a little sister. This wasn't that strange because Rey and Thom practically grew up together. Her parents were good friends with Thom's parents, Abby and Collin Macmillan. Both their families were part of the sacred twenty eight which meant they were one of the more important pure-blood families. She could recall the memories of the two of them playing around the manor of the Fawley's called Sweetlove House. Thom was also really close with Rey's brother, Duncan who is a seventh year student in Hufflepuff. Her brother looked a lot like Rey because of their curly blonde hair and little sprouts. Duncan was very kind hearted and protective of others, especially of his little sister. Therefore it was no big surprise he was sorted into Hufflepuff house and that house is also the family house of the Fawley's and the Macmillan's. Which is why it's actually quite strange that Thom was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Hufflepuff because he is the firstborn son and thus the heir to the house of Macmillan.
When class was over Rey and Thom walked together to Defense against the Dark arts class. 'Slow down Thom!' Rey pulled Thom's arm to slow him down 'You're way too fast for your own good' she said smiling at him.
'Yeah sorry it is because of my long legs.' Tom said and pointed at his legs. He went on about the disadvantages about being tall but Rey sort of zoned out when she saw Oliver sitting outside with some other guys talking and an idea popped into her head. 'Hey Thom you go on ahead, I'll see you in class.' She cut his story off and walked towards Oliver.
'Hey Wood can I talk to you for a minute?' She asked and Oliver friends looked at him teasing him 'Ey Wood finally got a girlfriend?' One asked. But Oliver gave him a look and ignored him 'Yeah sure.' He stood up and walked with Rey while his friends were whistling and joking.
'Sorry about them, they can be quite childish.' Oliver said while he put his hand in his neck 'What did want to talk about?'
'Will you let me practice and play in the next game?' Rey asked.
'Depends on whether you still have an headache and are taking your medicines.' Oliver answered with a serious look in his eyes.
Rey's idea was smart but she didn't really know if he'd accept and there was another idea now that popped into her head. She could lie to him about the medicine and headache and say that she wasn't taking them anymore. He probably wouldn't even find out and he would put her back on the field for sure. But then again, how could she lie to him? He trusted her and she would violate that trust by lying that was just not something that she would normally do. So she decided to stick with her first plan.
Rey sighed 'Yeah I'm still taking them and my head still hurts.'
'Then you know what my answer is Rey.' Oliver said and turned to walk back to his friends who were staring at the two.
Rey grabbed Oliver by the shoulder to avoid him from walking away 'What if you train me in private until I'm better?' She asked and Oliver looked surprised at her offer 'Ehm...well' He put his hand his neck again. Rey thinks he tends to do that when he gets nervous or is ashamed of something. 'Well?' Rey asked. She realized that her hand was still on his shoulder and put her hand back in her robe pocket afraid that maybe that was the thing that was making him nervous.
Oliver was thinking deeply and then spoke 'Yeah I will do it, make sure you're on the field tomorrow morning at 8:00 and don't be late.'
