"And his name shall be..."
I gasped as I woke up, grimacing as I recalled the dream of which I had just woken up from.
An old wrinkly man with a cane had asked me if I could give him some directions to the nearest graveyard. It was a strange request but because of my weakness to helping old people, I showed him the way.
When we got there though the old man had disappeared, and as I searched for him yelling "Old man? Oh old man!" I didn't realize the shadow that kept lurking closer and closer to me.
It wasn't until too late that I heard a soft crinkling sound like paper being crumpled up and leaves being stepped on that I turned around and saw the figure looming over me.
Right as I was bringing my hand up to cover up my mouth hanging wide open, a vine like arm tightened around my wrist, making me unable to move.
The horrid creature showed that it had what seemed like an unlimited amount of shadow-vines as they all wrapped around my limps.
I tried to scream for anyone as the monster climbed under my clothes, making me writhe in uncomfortableness until it had covered every last bit of my skin except for my face.
It felt like knives were ripping, even worse, shredding my body as my skin seemed to absorb the shadows. There was still some part of the monster left and I tried to shake my head and close my mouth and eyes as its figure crawled in them, leaving behind a bad taste and a burning sensation in my eyes as if a bunch of shampoo had been poured in them.
Then it was almost as if I was transported out of my body. I was still there except I was watching myself from a completely different point of view. When I screamed and yelled, my voice still came out, louder than ever, but none of the noises appeared to reach anyone or anything.
It wasn't long before an eerie voice that sounded like scissors cutting through paper spoke in my head, "You will befall the curse of Eros if you come into contact with the boy. Avoid him at all costs. And his name shall be..."
And that's around the time I woke up.
I was still a little shaken up from my dream so when my sister came bursting into my room with a waffle in her hand, I didn't even try to yell at her.
She leaped to my bed and started to stuff the waffle in my face. "Oi, dumbass. Stop spacing out. You got like six minutes 'til the bus gets here. I got your stuff packed already so get your shit sorted out and start changing." As I was still choking on the waffle that was shoved down my throat my sister, who's only 12 I may add, started sorting through my stuff, grabbing a fresh pair of boxers, pants, a sweater, and mismatching socks for me to wear.
"You 'ave t' stoff doin' thaf," I scolded, still chewing on my waffle which was making my words sound disoriented.
"Hey now, it could be worse, I mean at least I don't," she paused for a second and then turned to face me with an evil glint in her menacing reddish-brown eyes. "make you wear a bra to school."
Small bits of waffle flew out of my mouth as I snorted but I swallowed down the last of my waffle when my eyes met with my sister's glare.
"Ellie, Ellie, Ellie, why don't we stop this CHITTER CHATTER," she kicked the edge of my bed making me fly up momentarily. "AND ACTUALLY GET SOME SHIT DONE FOR ONCE? BECAUSE I SWEAR TO GOD IF WE MISS THE BUS-" I cut off her ranting by ripping off my pajamas and starting to change into the clothes she had just so kindly picked out for me which made her squeal and retreat back into the hallway since she did not want to see her older brother's dick.
When I had finished shimmying into my skinny jeans, (Sis always picked those out for me which made me develop a very strong hatred for them) I rushed down the stairs and got my backpack and raincoat on.
"ELLIE HURRY UP THE BUS IS ARRIVING IN FORTY-THREE SECONDS!" Sis and I ran through the sidewalk, her always seven steps in front of me as we finally got to the bus stop where the doors were just starting to close.
"WAIT!" Sis's voice echoed throughout the neighbourhood, "WE HAVEN'T BOARDED THE BUS YET!"
I walked down the aisle to my seat in the middle with my head down and a blush plastered on my face as my hands gripped the sides of my backpack as if it were the only thing keeping me alive.
When I took my seat I looked out the window of the passing streets until it made me dizzy enough to focus on a drawing I had taken out from my backpack.
I tilted my head slightly as I realized that this was in fact, not my drawing. The strangest thing though was that it looked exactly like the demon-shadow monster thingy that possessed me.
The only clue I had to show me who made this picture was a small name written in white in the place of where the heart should be in the monster.
Rynn.
