"Mr. Emo Cowboy"
Of course Gramps and Mimi asked Killian about his first day of school, and of course he lied.
"Great." he said as he hugged Mimi.
"Oh I'm so glad! I was scared you wouldn't like it, or maybe the kids would make fun of you for your accent, or maybe they-" she stopped talking when she realized he had already gone to his room.
One of the side effects of depression is that you don't feel like explaining anything to anyone. That's how Killian was. Just like any depressed person, instead of talking about his problems he preferred to drown in his own sadness.
Anyway, Killian just sat there in his room playing video games, eating, and zipping through the same homework he did last year.
...
The next day at school he found himself waiting for the red head girl (he couldn't remember her name) to start babbling to him about God's love and what not.
3-2-1 , he thought. And as soon as he thought "1" she was there.
"Hey Killian! Um...how was your night?" Abigail asked with a smile.
"Oh it was just grand." Killian replied...with a fake smile.
"So it sucked. I'm sorry. Maybe...today will be better!"
"Yep. I'm sure it will be."
Clearly things were getting awkward fast.
"What's your favorite color?" She asked, giggling.
"What are we?Kindergarteners?"
He paused,"it's black."
That country accent really didn't help him sell the "emo" look.
"Ah. Black like your soul, right Mr. Emo cowboy?" Abigail asked with a smile.
And for the first time in months Killian grinned.
