“Why did you bring me here?” I asked Ty as I climbed out of his car, he had driven us ten minutes away from school when our free started, which meant we only had eighty minutes left to do whatever he had planned, we were now stood outside an old movie theatre that closed down a few years ago.

“Be quiet and follow me.” He instructed as he headed to the back of the building where he found an unlocked door and ushered me inside the dark building.

“What are we doing here?” I asked again, suddenly feeling nervous, the car ride over we didn’t talk but luckily the radio was playing and we had an excuse to just listen to that, but now we were alone and I couldn’t help my skin prickling and my body heating up.

“I found this place a few months ago, I come here sometimes when I have nothing else to do; the acoustics are pretty awesome.” Ty answers as he leads me into one of the old theatres.

“Acoustics? You play?” I can’t help but grin at him, all five of my friends and I play some kind of instrument, or sing, it was kind of what solidified all of our friendships, I mean we were all friends before, but when we all signed up for the music class and played together it definitely made us all closer.

“Just guitar and piano, I come here to play.” He says as he walks over to the front seats of the theatre and picks up a beautiful black acoustic guitar.

“Why don't you play at home?” I ask.

“I have a baby brother, he’s four and last time I had my guitar there he pulled two strings off.” He said with a fond chuckle.

“Right, home is a no go for precious instruments.” I agree.

“What about you, do you play?” He asks as he sits down and readies the guitar.

I shrug, “Why don't you come to my music class next lesson and find out? You can sign up with us; Matt, Jake, Nate, Seth and Cora are all in it too.” I offer.

Ty considers it for a moment, “I’ll see what it’s like before I sign up, I don't really want to spend more time at school if I don't actually have to, you know.” He replies.

I nod and sit a few seats away from him, so he has room to lay his guitar out and start playing it, which he does, and holy crap does he play it; his fingers run across it like that’s what they were made for, his eyes closed as he let go to the music he made.

When he stops I have to quickly shut my mouth, not noticing that it had fallen open while he played, “That was incredible.” I whispered.

Ty scoffed, “It’s just guitar playing, anyone can do it with practice.” He shrugs, clearly not as impressed with his talent as I am.

“We should head back.” I smile, noticing the time, we had twenty minutes left.

“Sure, let’s go.” Ty agrees, standing up and placing his guitar back where he found it and lead me from the theatre back out into the sunshine, and I noticed him relock the door we had come through, I hadn’t noticed him unlock it when we arrived though.

Once we were back in the car and on our way back to school, I turned the radio down so we could actually talk. “Thanks for showing me that place.”

Ty looked over at me and smirked, “I thought you would like it.”

“I did.” I nodded, “Do you and your brothers go there a lot?”

Ty’s face went blank as he looked back to the road, “Actually, you’re the only person I’ve ever taken there, so if you could, you know, just keep it to yourself…” He trailed off.
