Chapter 15 (risk)

|ANNA'S POV|

"Pull over at this gas station, I gotta use the bathroom." I say to Liz.

"Okay." She pulls into the parking lot of the Hess gas station and parks in the front of the store.

I get out of the car and stick my head back in, "I'll be right back" I say before I close the door and walk into Hess.

"Excuse me, where's your bathroom."

"In the back, first door on your left." The cashier tells me.

"Thanks." I walk to the back of the store and to the left where the bathroom should be. It's so nasty and smelly in here, I waste no time getting the heck out of there once I'm finished.

Liz isn't in the car when I get back out so I figured that she must have gone inside to get food and I just didn't see her. I get in the car and wait for Liz. I look down at my phone and see loads of missed calls from my mom. I know this is the dumbest thing I could possibly do but I'm not gonna call her back yet. If I answer now all she'll do is yell at me, and I don't need to hear that right now. My plan is to drive to wherever the boys are rescue them and come back home. Hopefully that's gonna happen, that actually would be the fairy tale ending. There's probably a 1% chance that it will go smoothly and safely. I'll find out soon enough.

I sigh and sit back in my seat while pressing the off button to my phone. I look through the side view mirror at what what looks like Liz, wait...it is her.

She's waving her arms around angrily as she talks on the phone. She might be talking to her parents but I don't know for sure. I look away for a minute and when I glance at the drivers side door she is opening it and plopping down and starting the engine.

"Are you ok, your parents are upset huh?" I say. She seems pretty out of it, she must be grounded or something.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me Anna, you just worry about yourself." Liz snaps.

"Woah it was just a question, you don't need to get all defensive." She nods her head and pulls out of the parking lot and just like that we're back on the highway.

We drove for another hour and 40 minutes without speaking a word. I honestly wouldn't even know what to say, every time I try she gets so angry.

We turn onto a dirt road and its really spooky with dead trees and not a lot of well....anything, anywhere. Off into the distance I can see a huge castle looking place. My stomach does a 360 and I feel really sick all of a sudden.

"I-I is this the place, I mean a-are we here." I manage to stagger out in a stuttering mess.

"Yes." All she says is that, Liz doesn't even look at me, she just grips the wheel tighter and continues to drive.

"What's the plan?'' I ask hoping she has one, because mine is definitely not gonna work.

"I don't have a plan, just follow my lead and be quiet." She stops the car a little bit down the road I guess so we can't be seen. The sun is setting too, so that gives us another advantage, but makes it even more creepy.

Liz turns off the car and gets out before I can even comprehend what was going on. I'm frozen in place until a loud knock sounds on my window. I gasp and turn to see Liz looking annoyed and gesturing me to get out. I let out a long breath and open the door.

Slamming it a little to hard. "shhhhh" Liz hisses at me.

"Sorry," I whisper to her.

We walk all the way to a metal gate that's a least 7 feet. There's a hole that's big enough for the both of us to fit through, Liz goes first and I follow. It seems to have gotten darker because it looks almost night time now. We are basically taking a huge risk, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
