Part 41 -Rae

"RAE! It's after 9am a bloody clock in the morning, you gotta get up. RAEEEEEE!"

"Alright, keep your knickers on!" I reply realising Finn is in my bed. "Finn" I whisper "mum is up she is going to be in here any second. Finn" I shake him gently.

"What?" he moans.

"Shhhh Finn, mum will be in here in any second, you have to hide" I pull the covers over us both.

"Rae, your mum will know you aren't alone. Is this your best hiding place?" he asks.

"Shhhhh" I beg.

My door flies open. "Rachel, seri... ummm, RACHEL EARL, WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS GOING ON HERE?" mum yells.

I pull the cover down and say "What do you mean?" acting like there is absolutely nothing going on.

"Rachel, unless over night you have grown a whole extra body, there is something going on here" she says making sure I know that the jig is up.

Finn pulls back the cover "Hi, Mrs Earl" he says sweetly. "I think you should both get up and come downstairs and Finn, I will need your father's phone number" there is no disputing from mum's tone that we are in a whole world of trouble as she marches out of my room.

"It will be ok Rae" Finn tries to reassure me, kissing my lips gently.

"Finn, seriously did you not just see my mum's face?" I declare "Finn she is going to kill us".

"Rae, nothing happened, I am fully dressed, we didn't do anything" he reminds me, but none of it settles my nerves.

"Finn, she is going to call your dad! Didn't you hear her?" I am babbling now, and concerned.

"Rae, Dad wouldn't be surprised that I wanted to be with you, and plus, I am 18, what is he going to do?" Finn explains.

"Hurry Up" mum yells up at us. I quickly put my dressing gown on and Finn leads me downstairs to face the music.

"Mrs Earl, I am very sorry that I stayed over without asking your permission. It was wrong of me. I came over to see Rae, and we were up talking until we fell asleep" Finn starts explaining standing there holding my hand, rubbing it trying to make me feel better.

"Finn, came over to check on me, because I feel asleep while we were talking on the phone" I pipe in.

"Rachel Earl, there really isn't any excuse for a young man visiting you in the middle of the night, is there?" mum questions. "Mum, please" I reply so embarrassed.

"Finn I will need your father's phone number" mum states.

Finn walks over to the phone and rings home, "Dad, I am ok. I am at Rae's house, her mum Mrs Earl would like to talk to you" Finn explains handing the phone over to my mum.

"Mr Nelson, Oh Gary, your son somehow spent the night in my daughters room last night, and I just felt like maybe you and I should have a chat about this" mum explained to Gary. Mum proceeded to make lots of hmmm's, yes's and more hmmm's to Mr Nelson. Finally she says "Agreed" and then ended the phone call with a "See you soon". Finn and looked at me constantly during the call trying to keep me calm.

"Rae" mum breaks the spell that Finn has put on me.

"Mr Nel, I mean Gary and I agree, that you are both old enough to figure out where you sleep at night, however, we expect that you will do us the courtesy of at least telling us what is going on" mum states. I look at Finn, who is smiling, he knew his dad would charm my mum, and my mum is smiling at me.
