“I don’t know if I can do this anymore,” he said quietly. She was silent, because this was what she had been running from her entire life- love ending. She thought about how he could possibly “not know” if he could be in a relationship with her. See, he did know, just couldn’t come out and say it. I don’t love you anymore. He looked over at her with tears in his eyes, or maybe it was just the fall wind blowing by. The concrete wall they were sitting on felt more and more uncomfortable, or maybe it was only the situation itself. See, she couldn’t even make up her mind between simple things.
“Say something, Molly, please,” he said in such a desperate tone that she was brought back to the real world from her thoughts. But what was there to say? Only silence could suffice, no amount of screaming and crying would do her any good. She slid off the wall in one perfect, fluid motion, onto the gravel below in the foggy air. She brushed off the back of her jeans, and straightened up her green shirt and grey jacket. Her perfect red curls still bounced the slightest bit, and she ran her hands over them to smooth them down. All the while, he watched her wide-eyed, clearly in shock.
“Molly, say something, come on! Where are you going? Don’t you have anything to say to me after this whole relationship?” he said, once again sounding desperate for some sort of response.
“Yeah,” she said, “Quit being such a girl.” He stared at her in disbelief, as if the words physically hurt him. Maybe they did. Her curls sailed behind her as she walked off into the cool air, her head held high with confidence. Yep, she was a total badass. Okay, so maybe not... But she had been in that one moment. He looked like he was coming after her, so she decided to ignore the whole thing and listen to music. She pressed play on her ipod, and felt whole as the song “Rill Rill” by Sleigh Bells came on. Yes, she was officially no longer one of those lovesick girls who obsess over their boyfriends, but a perfectly sane human who was once again capable of being decent.
However, Molly Crawford was more than just decent. She was... Life. Yes, life. She could make you feel like you were an amazing human being who deserved a nobel prize, or she could make you feel like you should be dead. She was the kind of girl who could make your life a living hell without even doing anything at all. No, Molly was not a stuck-up popular girl, in fact, no one really took much notice of her. She was just another student absent-mindedly roaming the halls. Even so, she did have several friends, but she didn’t do much with them outside of school- they were really just school friends. She kept to herself, but not in that “no one likes me” way or the “I hate you all, watch me be emo” way either. Molly simply was... Not much of a people person was all. She liked to listen to her music, write, and read alone. Molly never saw a need for human companionship to do any of these activities. So yes, that is all you need to know aboout Molly Jane Crawford.
