Eyes have been opened and thoughts re-created,
With new surroundings, I’ve had to make myself acquainted.
But it’s been an extraordinary time for me,
I’ve seen more than what other people would dream to see.
Hugely deep gutters, with nothing stopping you from falling in,
Shops and houses made from some scrap wood and a bit of tin.
People waltzing along on the side of the road,
Women carrying matooke on their head, that’s a pretty big load.
Things that are guaranteed not to be seen in the west,
New school, new people, and all the rest.
My time here as been more than enjoyable,
Great things have happened; more than I thought were capable.
Soon, we’ll be heading home, can’t wait to see all of you.
Going to miss everyone here as well though, our time here is almost through.
Unexplainable emotions, overcoming us now,
I want to come home but I don’t at the same time…wow.
This country has achieved an everlasting space in my heart,
Even though I was nervous about it at the very start.
I can’t put how I’m feeling into words,
All I can say is that I’m proud to do God’s work.
