It was 9:45PM and the sun had already set, my mom doesn't like me being out after 11 and I live 20 minutes away so getting home by bus would take about an hour so I told my pal Vic I better start heading home before my mom starts freaking out and calling me 20 times he wanted me to stay longer since we were in the middle of the big game and pausing the video game was not an option we've been stuck on this level for days and finishing it was a big thing on our list for this week but my mom always told me to make it home before 11 she never explained why but I remember I didn't one time and she really flipped her shit about it
"Dude stop being such a goody two shoes I'll drive you home if you have to be home by 11 we gotta finish this level first" Vic said with his eyes still set on the screen "Vic I have to be home before 11 not by 11 if you're going to drive me I'll take that offer because I don't want my mom to Yell at me tonight so we should get going now." I told him "fuck fine but you owe me for skipping out on this level" we head downstairs and get in his car.
He starts heading to my house I fiddled with the radio to kind of break the silence that was making the ride home a little bit awkward when Vic asks "why does your mom always want you home before 11 is she worried you're getting laid or something?" I jabbed him in the arm and let out a little chuckle "heh no she probably doesn't believe me when I tell her I'm at a friends house and thinks I'm out partying or something but I don't really know she's never told me the reason why she always wants me home before 11 I'm just glad she doesn't want me home before like eight or something" I explain "yeah that would suck" Vic replies
After Vic finish talking I hear the sound of A train whistle a really loud train and it kind of startled me I turn to Vic and asked if he heard it.
"Heard what?"
"A train whistle"
"A train whistle?"
" yeah it was really loud you didn't hear it?"
"No?"
"Oh come on you had to hear it I was super fucking loud"
" there's no trains out here, I've never seen a train out here before maybe it was on the radio"
" maybe but shit that scared me a little bit"
"Haha wuss anyway were here"
I didn't even realize we made it to my house I step out of the car and before I close the door I tell Vic thanks for the ride and that I'll try to finish the video game level with him on Monday "you better ask your mom if you can sleep over next time I don't want to stop in the middle of this game again" I nod and close the door and I head to my front door.
