It was midnight, "I never sleep." I whispered to myself as I walked out of the house. Pulling up my hood of my black jacket, "It's cold." as a cold fog drifted from my mouth into the night. I pull cigarettes from the depth of my pocket as well as a lighter wonder should I take the seconds of my life away?  Look up at the pitch black neighborhood not a soul in sight but mine. Taking a look around to make sure I was alone, the snow shimmered as the moon cased its glow. Thinking about it"I'm not going to." I said. Shoving them back in my pocket. Stepping off the  porch making my way to a place away from home. Starting down the street the snow crunching under my shoes leaving my foot print behind.

Coming up to the park, it was my quiet place. The place where my thoughts could roam around freely. Finding a park bench to sit, wiping the fresh soft snow off. Sitting down breathing slowly while watching my breath walk away into the night away from me.  All the words in my head are running around they just have nowhere to go. Closing my tired eyes and leaning back to have my thoughts be seen.

A good twenty minutes goes by, I hear abrupt voice say " What's a beauty like you doing here?"

Opening my eyes to see who this mysterious man was, sitting up, answering the unknown man "Beauty? ha I'm not even near that."

He was wearing a dark flannel that matched his dark black hair that was combed to the side, shaved underneath. Also having some tattoos visible on his hands, wearing some dark faded jeans. Walking in around to sit on the other side of me.

"Huh." he replied looking at me trying to read me as an open book. "My name is Gabriel, what about you?"

"Elizabeth." answering, looking at Gabriel.  "So you never answered me, what are you doing out here?" Gabriel questioned again.

"Why are you so curious, you're probably worse than Alice." responding looking away into the snow covered park. "Just trying to have a conversation so a stranger isn't sitting next to you, that's all."  Gabriel says pulling something small out of his pocket.

I look to see what he's grabbing, it seems like a small box. He pulls out cigarettes, puts on in his mouth digs in his pocket for a lighter. Reaching into my pocket I grab my blue lighter and hand it to him. "Thanks." he mumbled out while lighting his cigarette. Gabriel looked at me to give me the lighter. He let a huge puff of smoke blow out.

"Are we going to have any small talk?" taking another drag of his cigarette. "Like what?" asking.

"Well if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" asking as he blows another puff of smoke

Hesitantly I answered "I"m 17 what about you?" "I'm 18." He replied

Silence between us for a few minutes. Gabriel spoke up to break the silence. "So are you going to answer my question earlier, what are you doing here?"

"My quiet place, a place to think you know." saying turning looking at him. He blew his last puff of smoke and flicked his cigarette into the snow.

"Yeah I get it just somewhere to get away." as he said turning towards me.

"It's late I'm going to go." saying as I left myself off the bench.

"Hey do you want to meet again?" he looked sincere "Sure when?" I replied with a half smile.

"What about tomorrow here about midnight maybe we can explore the town of Brook." he got up and faced me. he raised his hand, he hand stroked my cheek "See you tomorrow Elizabeth." he turned around walking away. Standing there in the dark of the park with the moon shining down watching Gabriel walk down the street until his figure was gone.

"A new friend, huh, thought that would never happen." I whispered to myself. I started walking down the street Thinking to myself.* wow someone talked to you that's been awhile*

Finally walking up to my house, turning the hand of the front door heat hitting my face of the warm house. Stepping in and closing the door behind me locking it. I head upstairs to my room change my my heavy clothes into some comfy shorts and a baggy tee, I turn the lights off and hop into bed. thing about everything it was weird it was something else. Rolling to my side slowly I drift asleep.
