She heard whispers. They spoke of the things they have done. The people they have seen. She doesn't know who they were. But she knew one thing; one thing they told her; one thing they whispered. They were coming for her.
Alice's senses slowly drifted back to her. The voices disappearing; forgotten. Thorns scratched against her face as her ears hummed with the sound of insects. She lay on a ragged Persian rug;the edges worn. She looked upwards, a dot of light a far way up the dirty hole. 'how did I get here' she wondered. Alice had no memory of falling. Not much memory at all actually. She heard scuttling to her right; she whipped her head around towards the noise.
"To soon" she moaned as her head spun. She put her hands over her eyes and her head on the ground as she waited for the world to stop spinning. 'I'm gonna be sick' she thought.
"Not on my rug!" said a voice
Alice looked up to see a white rabbit. A rabbit!? Wearing a red suit!?
"Did u just speak?" Alice asked
"I did!" the rabbit exclaimed "Or... are u imagining me" His orange eyes twinkled as he laughed maniacally.
"Yes... that could be it. This could all be a dream." Alice reasoned " and any moment I will wake up and shake this insanity out of my head."
"pretty girl, " he cackled, "our brains all work in strange ways"
He extended his paw and brushed her cheek. Quickly Alice retracted from his touch, fear in her eyes.
"so young, so tender. " he whispered. "follow if you dare.. "
He scuttled away through a small door.
Alice moved towards the door, she slightly pushed it an stepped back as it swung open.
