My 17th birthday was very lame my mom put up the same pink and purple streamers and balloons that we have every year. I got the same cake vanilla with white frosting and pink and purple flowers. I wore the same princess crown as i do EVERY SINGLE YEAR. My family loves tradition, we are pretty much your average disney movie family. we sing christmas carols, go on family trips in a sudan and my parents confiscate me and my little brothers electronics, when we go camping we use a family sized tent. yep were that family, and let me tell you it gets pretty annoying. I was only allowed 1 friend at my birthday party and the rest of the guest had to be family, and in my case it was all family because i am a loner. It was a short party like always my mom didnt want anyone over for too long she wanted to clean everything up by 8pm. The day after I was out getting groceries and decided to go get some ice cream. So i headed to frosties waiting in line infront of me was a young mother and her son who looked to be around ten. There was a sweet aroma coming from the lady and the more i concentrated on the smell the more my senses hightened there were so many smells and sounds around me i felt like i was suffocating but still the strongest smell was her and i could hear a faint beating almost like a heart. And thats when it happened. I howled in pain as my nails grew long and sharp and so did my teeth i pounced on the lady ripping into her neck tasting the sweet blood in her veins. Then a gun went off beside me, then again but this time in my stomach. I whimpered and looked around for my attacker. My eyes landed on a man whose face was covered with a black bandana, i went for him but he shot me again in my leg. I fell to the ground whimpering he came to me and bound my hand with some sort of chain. In an instant i was calm but he was rushing me towards a black van. "Whe-where are you taking me?" I managed to say barely above a whisper. "Shhh lane when we get there i promise all of your questions will be answered." The man said opening the door and ushering me in. Then we were moving. We were going fast running red lights and stop signs i heard sirens in the distance telling me we were being followed. The man was applying pressure to my stomach where he shot me. I tried looking out the window which resulted in me being blindfolded. After i calmed down from what happened i had went to sleep.

I woke up in a small canopy bed in a very old room with stone floor and walls. There was a balcony on one side of the room and on the other a closet and bathroom and of course the door to the hall. Curious, i walked to the balcony and was welcomed by warm sunlight. I was atleast 4 stories up there seemed to be a village below there were so many people rushing around. It was so green and bright here. I went to the closet and found several dresses along with mens clothing for some odd reason. I setteled on a white sun dress that complemented my tan skin and red hair. There seemed to be no shoes anywhere in the room so i went bare foot into the hall. "Oh good your awake." A man with a familiar voice said standing from a chair beside the door. I look around the hall noticing the unusual largeness of it people of all colors shapes and sizes buzzed around all without shoes. "Lane? Hello? Earth to Ms. Everly." The man waved a hand infront of my face. "Did you just call me Ms. Everly?" I asked snapping out of my daze. "Yes i do belive i did. Now follow me theres someone who wants to meet you." He held out his hand and i took it letting him lead the way. "My name is lane Meredith, not Everly." I explained but there was no response. After walking down the hall and up a set of stairs i realized i was in a castle of sorts. It was made of stone and had many rooms and floors. The floor we were on now had only a few rooms and very few people who dressed as maids and smelled like they hadnt showered in days. At the end of the hall was a large double door entrance the man knocked and seconds later the doors opened and my eyes landed on them. "Eric! Mom! What are you doing here?" I ran to my 15 year old brother and my mom giving them hugs. "Lane?" A deep comanding voice spoke behind me. I turned and looked at the man. I took him in he was rather large and had red hair slightly darker than mine he was fair skinned and had a crown on. "My daughter my beautiful beautiful daughter." He pulled me into a hug. "Im sorry what?" I asked pulling away and looking to my mom. "Honey this is your real father, king Everly. Adam was a cover for us he was there to protect us when you were younger and i was pregnat with eric me and your father were under attack by another kingdom. Adam took us into hiding until peace was reached." My mom explained laying a hand on the kings- my fathers shoulder. I was baffled i didnt know what to say except, "What am i? Today i attacked someone my nails and teeth were sharp." Instinctively i looked at my hands making sure they looked normal. "Half werewolf half human." Eric spoke for the first time. "Both of us are?" I asked. He nodded and played with the hem of his shirt. "I know this may seem strange bu-" i cut my mom off, "no it feels right, it explains so much." I sighed sitting next to eric. "I told you she would say that." My father chuckled to my mom. A small man whispered something to my father and his mood suddenly changed. "Demetri!" He called to the man that brought me here. "Yes alpha?" Demetri asked bowing to him as he spoke. "Thank you for collecting my daughter for me im trusting you to be her keeper please see her back to her room." He motioned for demetri to stand. "I am terribly sorry but i have an urgent meeting i will see you st dinner princess." My father spoke hugging me again. Demetri took my hand once again and led me back out to the hall. A realization suddenly hit me as i started remembering the mans voice from earlier today. "You shot me!" I yelled and felt my stomach and searched my leg for wounds, but found nothing. "Your fine princess you are a fast healer, it comes with the wolf." He laughed taking my hand again. "You still shot me." I grumbled. "If i hadnt you would have killed that woman luckly she will be okay but you are highly wanted right now by the government. We have insiders that can fix that though so no worries. Now come along id like to show you around the castle before sticking you back innyour room till supper." Demitri started walking again down stairs to the floor my room was on. "On this floor is your room your brothers room and guest rooms for visiting kingdoms or the various members of our royal table it include your father and mother thier right hand man adam the chancellor and the dukes and duchesses. The floor below is housing for our staff gaurds and visiting lower class. It also has the kitchen and great hall. And the first floor holds the court room, Throne room, Ceremonial room, libray, study, amd training rooms." He explained as we walked around him showing me each room as we went. After about an hour of him giving me a tour he showed me back to my room. "I will be right outside this door if you need me princess." "Thank you Demetri." I smiled and sat on the bed for a moment to breathe. "This must be a dream. Half wolf half human. Next they are going to tell me vampires and zombies exist." I sighed laying back on the bed exhausted. There was a knock at the door a few moments later. I voiced a welcome and a tall slender woman stepped with long brown hair in a braid and a light yellow dress. "Miss im cassandra your lady in waiting. If you dont mind im supposed to run your bath and dress your for the dinner tonight theres going to be many of your subjects there." She bowed at the hip. "I thought it was just a dinner for the royal family?" "Oh dear your father never knows how to explain things properly. The royal family is having everyone in the kingdom welcome home the queen prince and princess." She sighed going to the bathrooom where i heard water running. She came back and told me i could take a bath and she would have my dress ready for me when i get out.
