Danger Ahead

"Set down here Cole." Her voice was merely a whisper but his hearing was excellent.

Descending slowly, he set foot just south of Black-wing pass.

There was a large sign that read Keep out! Danger ahead! Someone had written in smaller letters underneath 'go or die!' Danger had nothing on how I feel right now, she thought with grim determination. She unclipped the sheath to her dagger for easy and quick access and took Courser out of the clasp on her back. After taking a deep breath, she mentally braced herself to the fact that she was there, and going to end someone's life.

"Let's do this Cole." Her voice was wavering ever so slightly, but the image of her father's smile in her mind propelled her to put one foot in front of the other until she reached the entrance to Black-wing pass.

It was almost as if stepping into anotherdimension. Progress was extremely slow as she made her way through buckthornbushes, the glossy evergreen leaves disguising long thorny projections at theends of the twigs. Cole followed closely behind.
