The back roads were empty, except for a little girl clad all in white. She looked to be only three, still stumbling sometimes when she walked. She reeked of innocence! How I loathed her. I pressed forward to meet her but when our eyes met she let out a horrid, blood curdling scream, and disappeared. Only her ribbon, which had gone from pure white to blood red, fluttered effortlessly in the breeze.

"Pity, I thought I knew her." I whispered.

Although the little girl had frightened me, I pressed on until it occurred to me how I knew her. She was me. I tried to focus on the long road ahead of me until I saw a man with a funny hat. He took a step towards me and reached out his hand to snatch me. I was quite relieved to find that he was only ash and promptly blew him away.

"Pity, I thought I knew him." I mumbled.

Finally after great debate, I convinced myself to continue walking down the lane when I reached an intersection. There was a silly little sign which cleverly stated, "Remember only what you need, Forget what you must." It also stated the names of the roads, and I found myself turning off the road named Shattered, which then I found myself strolling down Memory Lane.

Safely on a main road, I let my guard drop quite a bit. Everything was in black and white, as if I had stepped into an old time picture movie.

"Very Curious!" I said aloud. Suddenly the dull was broken with a body of color, a clown. With most this would be a delight, but with me it was a great fright! I stood there frozen to the pavement.

"Whats the matter little grrrrrrl?" He said in a growling way which barred his teeth. The clown's face was horribly disfigured. He gave me an eerie smile that made me want to scream, but when I opened my mouth no noise escaped.

Then the clown began to change, first into the bloodied dressed little girl, then into the ashy old man, and finally into a girl dressed in a school uniform. "Remember only what you need, Forget what you must." The girl said firmly.

"I'm sorry, I forgot." I said in a dreamy daze. The girl wrapped me in a cold loving embrace. I was her, and she was me. I looked her up and down and realized a widening blood stain on her snow white blouse.

With tears in her eyes she shrieked, "HOW COULD YOU FORGET YOUR OWN DEATH!"

I felt a sharp blow to the head and I feel into my eternal abyss.
