Marcel’s POV

“Mars, you won’t believe what happened earlier!” Maggie excitingly said. “Anyway, where have you been?”

“I... I went home. I need to get my research paper for my English class later. I left it on my drawer so,”

“Uh, okay. I encountered Zayn this morning.” She said.

“Really?”

“Yeah, and he mocked me in front of his friends.”

“Did he hurt you?” I asked.

“No, I’m absolutely fine. It was so amazing how this new guy appeared in time and blew him off,” she said. “And here’s a thing, this guy really looks a lot like you.” She continued.

“Oh, I wish I was there to see him.” I pretended.

“You really should have.” She said. “Hey your hand’s bruised. What happened?” she held my right hand and slightly kneads it.

“Huh? This one? Erm... I accidentally closed the drawer with my hand on it. That’s why.”

“Does it hurt?”

“It’s nothing. Have you eaten lunch?” I changed the topic.

“Not yet,” she replied. “Where were the lads?”

“Niall and Louis went to Barnsley last weekend.”

“When will they come back?” she asked.

“On Wednesday, I guess?”

“What about Liam?”

“He’s busy stalking on his crush,” I said.

“Really? Who?”

“I don’t actually know her name. But she’s a cheerleader. That’s why Liam always stays at the gym.”

“Oh, maybe it’s Gabrielle.”

Zayn’s POV

*FLASHBACK*

I sat beside her and brushed her messy hair with my fingers. “Go away,” she said.

I pouted. She looked so gloomy again. If only I can make her smile in just a flash, if only I can take her sorrows away. “What’s wrong?” I asked.

She sobbed and fell into tears. It totally broke my heart seeing her like this. She means a lot to me. She means more than just a friend. She’s special. I knew she was special to me. And I don’t want anything or anyone make her feel like this. I won’t let anyone hurt her. I won’t let anything break her down.

“Hey it’s okay,” I rubbed her back. “I’m here. It’ll be fine.”

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I knew it was her. The way she speaks, it was exactly the same girl I knew since. But she has changed, a lot. She got simpler than before, more beautiful than I remember.

It hurts how she can no longer recognize me. I stared at her, eye to eye. But it doesn’t even gave her a hint about who I really am. Is she mad at me? Did she intentionally forget me? Or is she just pretending? I don’t remember any rude things I have done to her. All I know is she’s the one who left me behind. Actually, I should be the one who has the right to get mad. She doesn’t even bother calling me since she left. Maybe she has really changed after all. Maybe I don’t know her anymore.

I'll be here by your side

No more fears, no more cryin'

But if you walk away I know I'll faint

'Cos there's nobody else

I sang harshly while wandering on some books in the bookshelf. Soft enough for anyone could hear. I’m in a library, anyway. I’m not that rude to make distractingly noise here. I can hardly recall how she loved this song. I remember how she felt so relieved every time I sang it to her.
