Hey there.  I’m Alecia Cartwright. I’m 18, and I’m from California. I’ve lived in Cali my whole life, born and raised. I love it here, there’s so much to do, so much to see.  But today, I got the single worse piece of news of my life. My parents informed me early this morning that we were having a reunion with the Lermans. Yay. How bloody fantastic. Ugh. It’s not the Lerman family I have an issue with, it’s their son Logan. Logan and I used to be best of friends in elementary school, but then we had a huge fight over something silly and we just stopped talking to each other. We started hating each other. A lot. We would call each other names, and talk about one another behind their back. About a year after our fight, I moved schools, and I haven’t seen or talked to him since. It’s been seven years.  I can definitely tell this little reunion is going to be awkward as hell.

The day went by incredibly fast. Before I knew it, it was already 4:30pm. I had to get ready in time for dinner, which was at 6pm. I had no idea what to wear, so I just walked out of my room in my shorts and tee, however, once I emerged and my mom saw me, she told me to change right away.

“Alecia. You are not wearing that tonight. Come on, we haven’t seen the Lermans in years. Go and put on something else please.”

Ugh. I eventually found a dress that I thought would be sufficient enough.  It was a skater dress, with a black top, and a coral skirt with black polka dots, which I teamed with some gold gladiator sandals. I did my makeup and hair and I walked downstairs, and thankfully, mom approved. I sighed and shook my head. Time for dinner.

We were having dinner at the Lerman’s place. Apparently, they had moved house in the last seven years. The car ride there was short, and all the while I was trying to calm myself down.  ‘It’s just Logan’ I kept saying to myself. However, I wasn’t so sure how I’d react once I saw him. I mean, it had been seven years after all.

We finally arrived, and as we walked up to the door, I realised just how big their new place was. That only made me more intimidated. Dad knocked on the door and Larry, Logan’s dad, opened it. He looked exactly as I remembered. Larry greeted mom and dad, and then looked at me.

“Alecia? Is that you? Oh my goodness, it’s been too long, you’re a beautiful young lady now! Drew, Angie, you two must be incredibly proud I’m sure.” Larry said

I just blushed and laughed awkwardly.

“Thank you Larry.” I replied.

“Come on in guys!” Larry stepped aside, welcoming us into his home. “Lisa! Logan! Lindsey! The Cartwrights are here!”

We all walked inside. I was in awe. Their house was incredible. There was noise coming from what seemed like the kitchen.  “Lisa?” my mom called.

“straight ahead Angie! I’m in the kitchen!” Lisa replied. We walked forward and found Lisa running around the kitchen trying to get dinner ready. I greeted her, and then her and mom went off and had a bit of a catch up. Dad and Larry were outside talking, with a few beers, as men do. I was just awkwardly left standing in the kitchen of a house I had never been in before. Great. Logan and his sister Lindsey hadn’t arrived yet. Larry had mentioned just after we walked in, that Logan's brother Lucas wouldn’t be coming, because he had other commitments. if only that were the case with Logan I said to myself.

I was standing there by myself for about 10 minutes when suddenly I heard footsteps coming downstairs.  My stomach immediately knotted. Logan, I thought. The person came around the corner and into the kitchen and I turned around.

“Alecia? Oh my god. You’re so grown up!”

It was Lindsey. I breathed a sigh of relief at the fact it wasn’t Logan. “Hey” I said, “Lindsey, it’s been so long!” and we embraced in a big long hug.

“Gosh, we have so much to catch up about! I’ll go say hi to the others and I’ll be back!” Lindsey said, as she ran off. Alone again, I thought. Not for long though. More footsteps.

I saw him come around the corner. My jaw dropped a little, but I quickly corrected myself.  He looked at me, but said nothing. I did the same. I just looked into his beautiful blue eyes.

Logan.
