You didn't like this. You were in a new place, with new people. Yeah, it's better than Burnywood, but at least you knew the people there. Plus, Dennis is still here, so it's not that much different. You were currently in your room, sat on the windowsill, looking out into the garden. Suddenly, the door opened and your head snapped towards the person who had just walked into your room. Liam.

"Hey, Kimberly, it's lunchtime, so you need to come downstairs." He told you. You started to climb down from the windowsill, when Liam walked over and tried to take your hand, "Do you want some help getting down?"

"No! Get off me!" You yelled, pushing him away. You were expecting him to have a go at you, to say he was only trying to help, like everyone else does. It wasn't your fault. You just didn't want to get hurt. Again.

"Hey, it's okay. I wasn't going to hurt you." Liam took you by surprise by talking so softly.

"How do I know you're not just saying that?" You mumbled.

"You can't. But I can promise you that I would never hurt you. No one will in here." He told you. You peered up at him through your messy hair.

"I know, I just... I can't help it. Whenever someone touches me or gets too close, my first instinct is to react in self-defence. After everything me and Kitty went through, I can't trust anyone." You were shocked at yourself. You've never spoken to anyone but your sister about what happened to the two of you.

"It's okay, I understand. But I can help you, if you'll let me." Liam said.

"It would take you a long time to help someone like me." You mumbled.

"I'm willing to wait." He smiled at you. You gave him a small smile back. Maybe not everyone is as bad as you thought.
