"I'm fine," Mira said with a whisper, trying to sound normal. Her head was held in her hands and her jet black hair covered her face. She was facing down, tears rolling down her cheeks like a broken string of pearls as long as eternity. She was shaking, trembling, scared. She couldn't speak without a crack in her voice. No one was asking her. She just said it to calm herself down from all the abuse she had taken from her family. Especially her sister, Nora.
Her parents were always biased towards Nora. Whenever she broke something, she would always draw a line on her arm with a red pen and show it to her parents when they came home. Although that line was far from even looking real, her parents would neglect it and ask what had happened. Nora would always say Mira broke the vase on purpose and tried to cut her. That always sounds ridiculous, considering Mira's small and weak frame compared to her sister. After all that, her parents would always stomp up to Mira in her room, quietly doing her homework, not knowing what was going to happen - a severe beating from her parents.
Her parents would always slap her first, pushing her onto the ground, then start kicking her. They would leave her powerless on the ground, bruises everywhere. Mira could only lie on the ground until some of the pain had subsided and she could actually move to get up.
Nora always beat her up before their parents came home too. So she would sometimes already be hurt when her parents do the same. Mira's parents treats her like shit. But at least she still has an education and meals to survive on.
But on one fateful day, Mira's parents were having a fight. And not like they don't do it already, it's just that this time, it was far more serious. "What are you talking about?!?! What do you mean they found out the truth?!?!" Mira's mother shouted. "The truth about Mira. That she's not our real child!!" Her father shouted back. "And now they want us to pay them back?!?! Over my dead, decomposing corpse!" Her mother shouted, filled with anger.
"It's all because of that stupid wretch!!"
"What do you mean?!?! It's all YOUR fault!! If you hadn't been so selfish, this wouldn't have happened!! So shut your damn big mouth you idiot!!"
"What the hell are you blaming me for?! You were in this too!! We're freaking married god damnit!! And now you're on that shit's side?! Are you freaking kidding me?!?"
"All these years you've never treated me well... We're getting a divorce!!!" Mira's mother shouted as she went to her room to pack her bags.
Mira had heard everything. No, she didn't care about her "parents" getting divorced because that wasn't her problem.
"I'm fine," Mira said, trying to sound normal, "I'm fine..."
"I'm fine..." Mira consoled herself again, her voice now trembling greater than before, "I'm FINE." Now her hands were shaking. "I'M FINE," Mira said louder and more aggressively, her body shaking vigorously.
"I'M NOT FINE!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs as she jerked her head up out of her hands and looked at the closed door. Her head was twitching. So was her hands. She let out loud yell, as well as all her emotions bottled up within herself. Her face changed from a sweet, innocent girl to crazy, psychotic killer. Her face was twisted with anger and hate.
The thoughts of "why didn't they tell me that I was adopted?" that raced through her mind soon vanished. All that was left in her mind, was revenge.
