Melanie's POV

I'm Melanie Drew the 23 year old sister of former Yankees player Stephen Drew. Today Stephen is taking me to a Yankees game he wants to see his old buddies from the team. They've invited me to sing the national anthem once they got wind that me and Steve would be attending the game. (I can sing my ass off).

"Mel you ready to go?" Steve asks knocking on my bedroom door. Since I'm not a hotshot ball player or anyone special I have little to no money working a part time job in a Starbucks in NYC so I'm living in my brothers loft in the upper east side of Manhattan.

"5 more minutes!" I reply opening the door a crack. He nods and close the door. I throw on my favorite Yankees players jersey number 11 Brett Gardner. Then put on my brand new Adidas sneakers.

I leave my bedroom and go down to the living room not seeing my brother.

"Oh brother where art thou?!" I call from the bottom of the stairs.

He literally jumps into the room.

"Here I am my dearest sister." He says and we both laugh. "Ready to go now?"

"Yes I am. I can't wait to see the boys again it's been a while." I say.

"You just can't wait to see Brett again." He says and it makes me blush. I playfully push him and we walk out the door to his Maserati.

"Shut up not true." I say and we get in the car.

"If that's not true then I'm a virgin." He says and drives us to the game. We get to the stadium and go in and go to the team room where all the players are. Alex is the first one to notice us.

"Hey Drew! Guys look Steve Drew is here!" Alex greets us and calls attention to us.

"Hey Alex." Steve says and gives him a bro hug. "You remember my baby sis Melanie?"

"Little Mel that's you wow you grew up its been a few years since we all last saw you." Alex says and gives me a hug.

I smile and hug him back and let go. I spot Brett in the corner of my eye not paying attention. Brian McCann notices me looking at a depressed looking Brett. My brother said he's been down since his wife and boys were killed in a car crash two years ago.

Steven looks at me. "You should go talk to him Mel I'm sure he will be happy to see you."

"Not right now maybe after the game." I say looking at Brett with a sad look. "I'm just gonna go get ready to sing the national anthem I'm sure they're looking for me. I'll see you guys out there."

"I've gotta come with you we'll catch up with the guys later." He says and goes over to Brett and pats him on the shoulder and then we leave the team room and head to the field.

Brett's POV

I heard Alex say that Stephen was here but I'm lost in my own little world. I want to ask him how his sister Melanie is doing but I think he knows I've always had some feelings for her. Never acted on them cause I was married and couldn't do that to my wife and two boys.

I turn around as Stephen is walking out and I see the back a dark blonde girl with my number 11 and my last name on it. And wonder who she is. I grab my glove and bat bag as we're all called out onto the field. We do our warm ups and all line up for the national anthem. The guest singer has an incredible singing voice. If only I could see what she looks like. When she's done we all go and take our positions and all I see of the girl singing is it's the same girl from the team room who was with Drew. My number 11 and last name on the jersey.
