Seventeen ~ The Hunting Game

Ash has left Cross Academy, he gave no word to anyone and he no longer stalks my dreams, who knows where he went but wherever he is, he can no longer reach me or hurt me and I am safe.

Being a vampire this past week hasn't been so bad, just the fact I get thirsty easily and I hate the tablet, I have managed to swallow two, which is better than taking none.

Last Sunday I moved into the night class. It's weird sleeping most of the day and getting up at night, but...I guess I get to know Aido better and see what vampire life is like.

Of course Akira doesn't know anything at the moment, all he knows is that I have returned home to my mum, I don't make appearances when everyone else does, Aido hardly does either, he stays with me.

Since today is Sunday I thought I would have a nice lazy day...apart from the fact everyone has wakened me up so we can go to the mountains.

"What are we even doing here?" I ask as we all stop.

"We are going to play a hunting game" Kaname yells me and holds up a bag and reveals something which looks amazingly disgusting but the blood enchants me.

"W-What is that?!" I demand covering my nose and mouth with both of my hands.

"It is a rabbit" She says taking it from Kaname

"Ew" I say stepping away.

Aido and Kain start laughing.

Kain takes the rabbit from Ruka and turns to me "I'm going to throw this rabbit as far as I can, whoever reaches first, can have it, now I know much you want it so we are letting you have a head start"

"O-Okay"

Kain tightens his grip on the rabbit raising it behind his head and throws it far into the mountains and into the distance so I have no idea where it lands but the scent hints. I stand there speechless since I am amazed he far Kain can throw.

"You better start running otherwise we'll reach it before you do" Kain says.

I look at everyone before turning to the mountains, taking a deep breath I feel the breeze wash past me as I pick up the scent. It is weak but I can still smell!!

Running through the mountains I know that everyone is counting.

My speed picks up since I am not mortal, I am different from humankind.

The blood moves to the right so I start to turn when I bump into a tree causing me to stop. I hear laughter as Kain runs past with Kaname at his hip. I HAVE TO BEAT THEM BOTH!!

Running around the corner I feel this way is quicker. Picking up the scent I spot Ruka standing there sniffing her eyes frantically looking around.

Smiling slightly I continue to run when going down hill, I slip.

I slide down hill and reach the bottom on my ass.

"Go"

I see Aido standing there in front of me, he takes my hand pulling my up and pulls me behind him.

"You better go, otherwise I'll win"

"Not a chance!" I demand and continue to run and I do not look behind me.

Reaching the end of the scent I search for the rabbit, but I cannot find it anywhere, maybe someone has taken it but I sense it is still here. Looking up I see it caught in a branch. Damn. Who told me I would have to climb things?

Reaching the first branch I try and pull myself upwards.

Sitting on the first branch I stand up wobbling ever so slightly, reaching my hand up I try and grab the rabbit.

Grasping the rabbit in my hands I take it into my mouth and suck, the blood fills me up, I don't care what it taste like or what it is, it's making me feel much better.

Dropping the rabbit to the floor I wipe my mouth and exhale. Going to climb down, the branch underneath my feet snaps.
