Can't Help Falling in Love

Ch. O6

Mason is looking down at me while I'm uncontrollably crying, he's seen me at my weakest.

"You okay Sophie?" He says with a worried look, he sits down and hugs me.

"I'm fine Mason, what're you doing here?"

I literally want to die of embarrassment.

He cups my face and cleans away the tears with his thumbs.
My heart starts doing flips, and I chew down on my lip and face the floor.
God he makes me so nervous.

"You don't look okay gremlin." He says lifting my chin up to his.
A smile curls up on his lips.

"You know just my bipolar mood." I manage to find the softest laugh I can, to make it seem genuine.
His honey colored eyes study my face.
I feel exposed.
He comes closer to my face and kisses my forehead.
That's it.
That's all it took for me to realize I was attracted to him.

"I hope so, if not this time it'll be me to bump into someone purposely." He chuckles.

It's the first time he genuinely laughs and jokes with me. We sit and talk some more I ask his favorite color and food, you know the basics and I come to learn that his favorite color is turquoise and his favorite food is pizza.
What a regular guy. The more I learn about him, the more I forget of the incident that happened earlier.
He offers to drop me off at home and I don't decline.

"I'm home Kaity."
She comes down the stairs and looks at me as if I'm completely psychotic.

"Where the fuck did you go Soph? You can't be running off like that. Then come home smiling like the joker after what happened earlier!" She says as she hugs me.
I can tell she was worried and the guilt kicks in.

"I'm sorry Kaity. I just needed some time to myself I promise I'm okay though. Mason found me at the park."
Her face goes blank.

"Did he touch you again?"
I can't help but laugh at how protective she is over me.

"No, I promise." I say.
"Speaking of which what's up with you and Mikey?"
Her face turns a bright pink, she starts to fiddle around with her hair.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't play stupid Kaity. I see the way you both look at each other. He's head over heels for you and I know you are too."

"Soph you know he's just like Aiden, I can't bring myself to get played around with."

I can't help but look at her with sad eyes since I know what she means. They used to be just like Aiden and I, maybe twice as worse. I caught them kissing once and let me say they did not care that I was standing there.
Michael fucked up and pushed Kaitlyn away, which was a reason that drove her even further away from him.

Sunday comes, and I sleep in.
As soon as I'm up I text Vivian back.

Me: Hey Vivs sorry for not texting you back yesterday I was going through something.
Vivian: It's okay Soph. See you tomorrow at school.

The day pretty much just consists of watching Supernatural. Kaity and I order some pizza and go get some boba drinks.
The night swallows the sun whole and for once the day seemed normal.

My alarm wakes me up the next day.
I smell pancakes and orange juice, letting me know that mom's back home.
I get up brush my teeth and shower.
I go down and kiss my mom good morning. Kaity is already sitting there finishing up her food, I grab a plate and start to dig in.

"See you later momma bear."

We get to school and the first thing I see is Vivian and Aiden holding hands.
I'm taken aback, but kind of knew that it was coming.
Michael is talking to Mason and Isaiah. Kaitlyn pokes me and whispers, "Do you see Isaiah's black eye?"
I look up and see the bruise on his left eye, the busted lip, and his knuckles are scabby. I go up to him and hug him.
His blue eyes are hiding between the purple and his dark brown hair is messy. I can tell he hasn't been caring for himself. He's not as tall so it gives me full access to study his face.

"Where the hell have you been Isaiah? What happened?" I grab him by his shoulders, shaking him.

"You know the usual Soph, I can't help but find trouble."

I hear a nasally laugh, and that laugh can only belong to the queen bitch.
April.

"Hi Aiden." She purposely runs her index finger from his chest up, a smirk spreads across her face.
Vivian looks up and stares at April letting her know to back off.
April comes around and kisses Mason on the cheek.

"Hey baby. Didn't know you hung with these cheap ho's."
That was enough to get me to react.
I lunge at her and manage to slap her face. Aiden throws me back and Mason catches me.

"What the fuck is your problem bitch?" she says touching the red spot on her face.

I laugh.

"You're the only ho around here April." 
She throws herself towards me and Kaitlyn catches her and pushes her back.
It's then that I realize Mason is still holding on to me.

"Don't think I'll let you get away with this whore."
She storms off and along with her plastic friends.
Isaiah and Aiden stare at me like I've lost it.
I pull away from Mason and start to walk towards the bathroom.
Mikey grabs my arm and pulls me away.

"What the hell Sophs?"
"You don't care to get suspended? She isn't worth it."
he pauses to catch his breath.
"Aiden and I could've handled it."

"Mikey, I know you care but no. I can handle myself. Don't worry about me." I pull away.

"Let's go to class Mikey."

As I'm walking away Mason catches up to me.

"Not you too."  Sarcasm rings in my voice.

"I'm glad you stood up to her, everyone usually lets her walk all over them."
He says.

"No biggie, I'll be damned if I let anyone walk over me." I smile and wink at him.
We walk in to class and to my surprise he takes the seat where Vivian usually sits. I look up to search for Vivian and she's sitting where Mason used to sit, next to Aiden.

*buzz* buzz*

Aiden: I miss you Soph.

I look up at him in disbelief, he's dating my best friend and still has the balls to text me that. Who does he think he is? He has a title with Vivian.
Surely I had forgotten that with Aiden there is no title.
