*Lucas' POV*

"Hey stranger," Haley walked up next to me as I was walking to school.

I smiled and kept walking as she fell into step with me, "Did you do your homework in geometry last night?"

I blanched suddenly, "What homework?"

"Oh come on Luke you've gotta be kidding me, you were supposed to work on it after school yesterday. I'm not even in that class and I know you had homework. I've already told you that I'm not doing it for you. How are you ever gonna make it through college if you never do your homework?" She took a breath, winded from her ranting.

"You shouldn't talk so fast Haley your brain's gonna explode. And I have plenty of time to worry about college, we're only in tenth grade."

She scowled and started again, "Did you not listen to a word I just said to you? I. Am. Not. Doing. Your. Homework," she paused between every word to emphasize her point causing me to roll my eyes again, which she hated.

"Come on Haley, I fell asleep at the café because I was so bored of geometry. Can you just help me out? I'm not even asking you to do it, I just need your help," I pouted and looked over at her, practically begging.

She groaned and elbowed my side as we walked, "Okay fine I'll help you, but you better pay attention to me or you're on your own. I mean it Luke."

I grinned and put my arm over her shoulders as we walked into the school, "You're the best Haley."

She scoffed and smiled, "Duh. Let's do this now, you're not gonna have any time between your classes."

I nodded and pulled my stuff out of my bag to complete my geometry then sat on the floor in the hallway. Haley plopped down next to me and started to explain to me how geometry works for the hundredth time.

"He squints a lot."

"I don't know Bev, I think he's kinda cute," my head snapped up as I realized the the brunette and the blonde sitting at the library table next to mine were staring at me.

They burst into a fit of giggles and the blonde pushed the other girl, "Teresa he heard you."

She was a loud whisperer.

I rolled my eyes and stood up as the bell rang signalling that it was time for lunch. Only 3 more hours and I'd be at the rivercourt. 3 more hours.

"Dude watch it!" I heard a annoyingly familiar voice yell as I crashed into him, knocking his tray of food everywhere.

"Ah man I'm sorry, I-," I looked ahead and realized that it was the one and only, Nathan Scott, "Changed my mind. I'm not sorry. You deserved that."

I walked away and met eyes with Peyton Sawyer. She, for the first time I'd ever seen, had an impressed look on her face.

"You're gonna regret that you reject!" I heard Nathan yell at me from across the cafeteria but I didn't care at this point.
