Amelia's pov
It's the day of the dead the most festive day of the year, today I wanted to hang out with my sister Maria but she is hanging out with those boys... Manuel and Juan ?
I don't know but right now I'm sitting on the ground and I'm reading a fairytale called Aladdin I love how the boy gets the princess and they live happily ever after but for me that's just a dream.
"Maria! Amelia !" I hear Papa calling I close my book and run up to Maria.
"Maria I thought you were grounded?" I thought
"Father is just overreacting how was I suppose to know that chickens don't like baths?" I laugh at her. Until I hear something.
"Maria!!!!" I see two little boys running over to her I hide behind her I never liked socializing and Maria knows that I'm very shy.
"Maria you forgot this" says a boy with a fake mustache and another boy with a guitar.
It was her bonnet she grabbed it "thank you Joaquin and since you're both here I would like you to meet my little sister Amelia" she pushes me forward but I went back behind her. The boys laughed.
"Seems like you're sister is shy? Hello Amelia I'm Manolo and this is..." But Manolo was cut off " and I'm Joaquin you're hero m'lady" he winks but I roll my eyes.
"I don't need a hero my sister and I can be our own heroes!" I said Manolo and Joaquin laughed. We heard our names again.
"Maria! Amelia!"
"Manolo!"
We all looked at each other "well it was nice meeting both of Maria's friend" I said they both smiled.
"we hope to see you again Amelia bye !!" Says Manolo and goes to his family.Third person's view
As those four kids made their separates ways two people had planned to make a wager.
There was La Muerte who believed all hearts were pure and Xibalba who believed not everyone was so pure. They had set to make a wager and planned on choosing their people to gamble on.
" Ah look there my love four kids together two girls two boys and.." "Both make wonderful couples." Finished La Muerte.
" I believe we have our wager if that boy Joaquin and Maria marry I get to trade lands with you." Said Xibalba.
" And if that boy Manolo and Amelia get married I will still rule and you stay out of the way of how I run the land of the remember but let's go wish them luck!" They both turned into old people those two made their separate ways.
La Muerte was going to Amelia and Manolo while only Xibalba was going to Joaquin
Maria was talking to her papa and being scolded for going out while she was grounded.
Amelia was sitting eating some bread and finishing her story book when the La Muerte came over. "Excuse me may I have a piece of you're bread ? I am so hungry."
Amelia smiled and broke the bread in half.
"Of course señora it's always a pleasure helping the ones in need." La Muerte took the bread and smiled. "thank you my dear and you have my blessing always be kindhearted and selfless and you're heart will always be pure." Said La Muerte
Amelia smiled "thank you señora thank you." As that was said La Muerte went over to Manolo "excuse me may I have a piece of you're bread? I am so hungry." Manolo grabbed a piece.
"I'm sure mama would want you to have it right papa?" Manolo's father nodded and smiled.
"Thank you my dear and in return you have my blessing may you're heart always be pure."
"What do we say Manolo?" Said Manolo's father "thank you señora thank you."
As that happened Xibalba walked over to see Joaquin.
"Excuse me may I have a piece of you're bread I am so hungry." Joaquin looked at him and smirked.
"This bread is for my father and it's delicious."
He said as he ate it. Xibalba smiled wickedly.
"How about a trade." He says as he pulls out the medal of everlasting life.
" a stupid old medal please." Joaquin states about to leave " ah but this is no ordinary medal it will give you courage and you would never be injured." Joaquin eyes widen.
"Deal!" He gave Xibalba the bread and grabbed the medal and before Xibalba goes he states "don't let that medal be seen or the great bandit King will stop at nothing to get it back."
"Bandit King? You mean Chakal?" He looked up only to see that he was gone."where'd he go?"
As those two finished wishing those children good luck Xibalba and La Muerte meet up again.
Xibalba takes out his hand and states "alright by the ancient rules the wager is set." They both shook hands and the greatest wager ever to be set in history began.
