"Thank you so much for doing this Bea, I know it's last minute." The twenty five year old woman frantically said as she ran around her small one bedroom apartment to gather her things.

"It really is no problem, Miss. Cabello." The blonde teen sat at the small kitchen table with her homework. "My parents are out and anyways, I love babysitting Brooklyn."

"The phone number to the diner is on the fridge and I should be back around five," Camila spoke quickly as she nearly ran out the door. "You are more than welcome to watch tv and sleep on the couch or my bed, or even go back to your apartment. Brooke usually sleeps through the night."

"Good luck at work Miss Cabello!" Bea waved goodbye to the brunette who ran down the stairs of the building and out to the streets.

It was nearing 10 pm, the usual time Camila started her nightly routine. She would put her daughter to sleep, then sneak out of the apartment in South Bronx, catch the bus to the 24-hour diner, work for about seven hours, go back home, wake her daughter up, then take her to school.

"Shit!" She yelled out into the night as she watched her bus drive away without her. With ten minutes until the start of her shift at the diner almost two miles away, Camila started running full speed.

What would've taken her three minutes to drive, took her nearly twenty minutes to run. The petite brunette came into the shop huffing out completely winded, only to get a sorry-looking boss marking her late once again.

"Look Mila, I love you. You are such an amazing friend and worker but you are late at least once a week. It's not fair to anyone else that I keep letting you go by like this. I want what's best for you and Brookie, but Drew is constantly on my ass about it." Ally, Camila's boss had explained as she gave her a cup of water. Drew is the owner of the famous diner, and unfortunately, is also the asshole who likes to fire workers for not complying to his incredibly uptight standards.

After nodding in agreement and promising it wouldn't happen again, Camila finally started her shift in the old school retro diner.

Life was never this difficult for the young woman. In fact, Camila grew up in the elite neighborhood of the East Hamptons. She was an honor student at her private school and had friends and family that constantly adored her for being such a genuine girl. With her father as a business-man and proud owner of an international bank, and her mother as one of the best neurosurgeons in the state of New York, she lived the luxurious life. Camila constantly got what she wanted, had the nicest cars and gadgets, all until she came out as a lesbian during her senior year.

Many people did not believe her because of her past with many popular boyfriends, and others, such as her parents, told her that it was just a phase. The two head Cabello's closed all of her accounts and even threw her out of the house for the entire winter break during her senior year, just for embarrassing them because of her sexual preference.

Her next door neighbor and friend since childhood, Lauren Jauregui, was one of the few who accepted her and never treated her any different. The green eyed girl was the captain of the soccer team, and the class valedictorian, but never flaunted her talents and high-life like the rest of their friends. She was smart, humble, and athletic, which made Camila fall for her over time.

When the green eyed girl caught her crying on the sidewalk the night her parents kicked her out, Lauren asked her if she wanted to stay with her. The entire winter break was full of reminiscing on their childhood, endless activities around the state, and little bits of flirting which also led to the two attending many parties together resulting in coming home drunk.

Being 18 at the time, Lauren lived in the back house of her mansion and away from her parents which made Camila feel a little more comfortable for the time being. It became her safe haven, until Lauren slept with another girl the night Camila was taken back by her parents. From that moment on, Camila rarely spoke to the green eyed girl, and never even had the chance to even say goodbye before the Jauregui joined the US Air Force.
