Chapter 2

Wendy's POV

I lightly gasped as the head maid grabbed my arm.

"Tonight is your 16th birthday ball! It's your big night Mistress!" She smiled. So did all the other row of maids in my room.

"Hehe...yeah..." I laughed nervously. "Totally..."

"Let's go get you dress ready! Can you tell me what you want? I would be honored to sow it for you." The maid bowed before me.

"U-Uh..." I gulped. I didn't realize tonight was such a big deal! "I-I actually was gonna go with one of my old dresses..."

The maid looked offended. "No! I must make you a new one."

"No, it's fine... I don't want to make you work harder then you already are..."

My maid almost had tears in her eyes. "Mistress, you are too thoughtful! Well, if you wish not to have me work, I'll will go to town and buy one."

I gasped. I always wanted to go to town!
"N-No!" I gulped. She was staring at me confused.

"Mistress? Are you alright?"

"I just meant that maybe.... I could go instead of you...?"

She gasped. "Heavens no! Mistress, do you know what they'll do to you?"

"I-I know, I know... that's why I'll go with my cloak on..."

The maid frowned.

"Mistress.... If you truly wish to go, I will not stop you."

My face turned into a huge smile.

"....However, cover up your face. Don't draw attention to yourself. And most importantly," She places her hands on my cheek. "Don't talk to anyone except the dress dealer."

I nodded. She removed her hands.

"Thank you!" I bowed and ran out of the room. I made sure I grabbed my cloak. Before closing the door, I turned to thank her one more time.

"Wahoo!" I yelled as I ran down stairs. As I got to the main floor, I stated to button up my cloak. I threw the hood on.

"Lady Wendy? Are you going to town?" One of the guards said by the pull down door.

"Yep!" I was stated with a huge smile.

"Did the King allow you too?"

"Of course he did." I said, with a smile. I crossed my fingers hoping he would believe my lie.

Natsu didn't want me to go to town-ever. He always used to say that the castle was right and the town over reacted. He never said exactly what happened.

I'd figured I would be back without him ever knowing.

"Very well." The guard shouted at his men to lower the gate over the moat.

It took a few seconds, but the gate eventually closed. "Thanks!" I yelled back. I was already running out.

As I got deep enough into the forest that separates our castle and town, I started to walk. It was a long walk, but I didn't mind.

I eventually saw the light of day. I could hear music and laughter. It was wonderful.

As I entered the town, two girls, about my age, were standing in front of me. They smiled widely.

One of them had pink hair and pigtails with little yellow bows. The other had shoulder length white hair. Both wore cloaks like mine (probably because it was a little cold out), hoods down.

"Welcome to Fairytail! My name is Sherria." The pink haired one said.

"And I'm Carla." The white haired one said.

"We welcome new people to town!" Sherria an Carla said in Unision.

I was told not to talk to anyone...but just saying hi I should be fine.

"Hello..!" I smiled brightly. "My name is Wen- I mean Tess."

Can't let them know my real name.

"Hmm... how old are you, Tess?" Sherria asked.

"16."

Sherria's face lit up. "So are we! Well, I just turned 17."

"Oh goody! Wanna hang out with us?" Carla asked with a warm smile.

"Um..."

Well... I guess it couldn't hurt.

"Yeah!"
