Legend of Korra: Aftermath

chapter one

Korra woke up to the sound of her alarm beeping loud as hell at 6:30 in the morning. She had to go to yet another senate meeting to hear the never ending debates between the Loyalists and Free Handers. Since she had nothing else to do, President Raiko and Tenzin asked her to help stabilize the senate of the Earth Republic to ease tensions. Of course, she didn't want to do it, but then again she did have nothing else to do. 

She got up from bed and put on her ring that was on her nightstand. It reminded her the time of her and Asami's wedding. Also the time they had a vacation in the Spirit world. We had one hell of time during our vacation, didn't we Asami,  Korra thought to herself. She sighed then went to the bathroom to clean up her face and got ready for the day. Asami was at Republic city working on business while Korra was stuck in Ba Sing Se. Ugh, how much longer do I have to be stuck in this polluted city?  

An hour later Korra met up with Senator Caloy, a Free Hander Senator who represented the State of Yi. Caloy was the first senator Korra had met once she entered Ba Sing Se a few months back, they have became close friends ever since. 

"Good morning Avatar Korra, having a fine morning I assume?" Caloy waved as Korra was walking towards him.

Korra chuckled. "Aha yes actually, how about you?"

"Marvelous. Today is indeed the fifth anniversary of the Earth Republic. Governor Wu will be giving a speech on how far we came to prosper and grow as a nation."

Caloy was one of the more uplifting and positive senators who always had a good attitude and rarely got into debates. 

Korra's eyes brightened as she just remembered that today was the fifth anniversary of the Earth Republic. 

"Oh my. I didn't even realize that today marks the FIFTH year this great nation has lived! Time sure does fly fast...maybe too fast."

"That is true, Avatar. Today the Free Hander's are hosting a celebration party after the meeting, care to join?" 

"I would love to, but won't the Loyalists see this as me endorsing a party? This could lead to them believing I am biased towards one party, which indeed I am not in the position to start a conspiracy like that." 

"Of course they won't! I mean don't they know you're friends with me? If they were going to start some rumor, they would've done that already! Come on...you should come! It'll be a great way to meet new people and ya know, socialize."

Korra thought to herself the benefits of going to this party. The soft wind brushed against her shoulder as she was thinking. For the pass few weeks she has been stressed out about all these meetings, so sure why wouldn't she go? 

"Alright, I'll go, just promise me the food there is good, okay?"

"Oh trust me, the food at these kind of celebration parties are the best in Ba Sing Se!" 

Korra chuckled. "Come on, we wouldn't want to miss that meeting would we?" 

Korra and Caloy both walked towards the senate building during the calm day. 

The senate building was large comprising of numerous offices, a few break rooms, and in the center of it, the Senate Chamber, which is where the meetings took place. The building had pillars in front of it for decoration and was coated in red and green along with the Earth Republic's emblem on each pillar. In the middle between two pillars was two large doors where people could come in and out of the building, with two Dai Li agents on each side of the door.

Korra and Caloy walked in the Senate Building greeting the two Dai Li agents. Inside, the air was cool and the environment was filled with senators from all over the country. Representatives from all regions gathered to acknowledge the fifth anniversary of the Earth Republic. There were bright lights all around the entrance room, a fountain in the middle, a table filled with food, a large pair of doors at the end of the room leading to the senate chamber, and two hallways on each side of the room.
