"Captain." a timid voice squeaked in the light of the rising sun.

"Yes?" the captain said gruffly as he looked up at the terrified recruit.

"Tis dawn, we are to be riding soon by the Kings order." the recruit said his voice cracking in fear towards the end.

Looking at the recruit he thought to himself, They get younger and younger every year. Poor boy can be no older than twelve and he is already scared to death. "Dawn you say? Why don't you just report back to the king that I'll be out in a moment? I have some business to attend to." After the boy had left he turned back to the journal he had been writing in. Once he had finished his entry he solemnly put it in his saddle bag along with his spare cloak, and other possessions.

Coming outside he walked up to his old friend and mount, one of the last of the Thunderbirds. "You ready for one last ride old friend?"  he asked smiling as he gazed up at the beast's eagle head. In his mind, he sensed a determined loyalty coming from the other Magic wielder.

Suddenly horn blast interrupted the peaceful moment as they announced the coming of the enemy. Climbing up onto the saddle behind the eagle head he sighed. Once he was properly seated the captain reached down petting the creature's wolf pelt.

"Come on friend let's give them a show they'll remember." the bare headed captain said pointing his spear towards the sea of on coming orcs.

Together they rode, one wielding spear and fist the other, claw and lightning. Separate one fell while the other was driven into madness.
