"He's not looking at me, he is not looking at me, he is NOT looking at me." I say to myself as I walk down the narrow hallways pass the lockers.

"Hey nerd." him and his friends snickered. I just put my head down and walked to my favorite class... history.

It was my favorite because a few reasons.

1.) I get to sit next to my best friend, Rory.
2.) My teacher is the best teacher I have ever had, and he really likes me because I make good grades.
3.) That guy in the hallway... he's not in it either.

That boy has been my bully for as long as I can remember. Always. Since like 8th grade. I'm a senior now and nothing has changed. that boy... is connor.

I took my seat and took my binder out waiting for class to start and to also wait for Rory.

"Leslie!" I heard from across the room. I look up to see Rory running in from the hallway.

"Hey!"

"Hey, sorry! Jc needed to talk to me!"

"No, no , it's fine!" Jc is her boyfriend that I've liked since 9th grade but I stopped my freshman year when he started hanging around with connor. the strange thing is , is that he's the one that never laughs, or never makes fun of me along with the others. It was sweet. I didn't like him anymore because he was obviously Rory's boyfriend but I just... lost interest.

"Where's Mr. Dixon?"

"I have no clue." just as I said that he strolls into the classroom in a panick.

"Sorry class, my wife is going into labor right now so I promise I'll be back in the next few days. I have no substitute to cover today so do whatever but I swear to god.. if I come back with the other teachers saying they can hear y'all because y'all are too loud then I'm giving a 100 page essay!" he says pointing the ruler at us. "okay I have to go! bye! BE GOOD!" he yells as he walks in the hallway.

We all smile and turn to our friends to talk.

"Okay so are you coming tomorrow?!"

"Of course!" it was her birthday and she was throwing a big party at her aunts house. Her aunt is always out of town and since she legally is Rory's guardian and she'd be out of town the whole week, she kinda planned it already.

"Good! so uh..I invited jc.."

"Yeah?"

"... and he wants connor to come.. but I told him no"

I frowned a bit but then smiled "No, he can com Ro! It's your party and I don't want someone to not be invited because of me. I can deal with him for one night!"

She smiled along with me and then spoke up once again. "So what are you wearing?!"

"I have no clue. I told my parents I was coming study with you so I can't leave dressing like a slut or with a lot of makeup on." I didn't want to admit it but I'm kinda a good girl so I wouldn't wear that anyway.

"Come to my house early and I'll lend you something to wear and I'll do your hair and makeup!"

"Thanks Ro! I appreciate it!"

Although I am grateful, I also know her clothes are a bit...short. Rory is one of those girls that is really popular and pretty and everyone likes her. but I was with her before her "hot" stage and we've just always clicked. She also is that popular girl who is friends with everyone so that's good. I hang out with her at lunch but no one really pays attention to me accept her and sometimes her friend Angela. I have another friend, Kian and he's amazing but he goes to a different school in a whole different state so I barely see him.

"So Jc said he wanted to take me out to dinner tonight for my birthday." she said breaking my thoughts.

I smiled "Awe good! I hope y'all have fun! but not too much fun" I laugh and wink.

"Shut up!" she blushes and then the bell rings and that was the last time I saw Rory that day. I'm pretty sure she ditched the rest of the day and went with Jc.



The last and final bell rang for school and I walked into the cool breeze coming in from the gulf. It was cloudy outside so it might rain. Not the best day to walk.

I strolled along minding my own business until it starts to pour. I start running and put my notebook on top of my head until I heard a car pull up next to me. I looked and saw Connors car pull up to the curb as he rolled his window down.

"Get in!"

I hesitate as I took his offer and opened his door.

"You look disgusting." he says crinkling his nose.

"Thanks." I say rolling my eyes.

"Eh."

"No, really thanks for giving me a ride."

"Don't feel too special. I would have done it if you were a hobo and you might be because you look like one."

Thank god he said that as we pulled up to my house.

"Bye.. thanks agai- oh wait! Can I borrow your notebook? Mine got kinda wet.."

He rolled his eyes and got it out his school bag then threw it at me. "Get out my car. bye loser. "

"Bye.."

"Oh ya, see you at Rory's party tomorrow." he said and then he pulled off. but I swear before he drove away... I'm pretty sure he smiled at me.

After that, I did my homework and watched a movie and I fell asleep really early. Before my parents got home from work. and I actually went to sleep happy for the first time in a long time. It's funny how just a smile can cause this much feelings.
