I walked beside Liam on the way to our gate in the LAX airport. He glanced over at me, a smile on his face."What's got you so happy?" I laughed.
"We're going to New York, Diana. How could you not be happy?" he countered.
"I'm super excited, Li, but I thought there may have been something else that was making you happy," I shrugged as we passed some fans that had heard One Direction was going to be at the airport.
"Well there is the fact that I'm going to New York with some of my best friends in the world," Liam replied. "Those best friends being you and the boys, of course."
"Well, I'm honored that I am considered to be one of your best friends. I know that you're one of mine," I said, pointing my finger into his bicep. It didn't even move; his muscles were just that strong.
Liam smiled at me again as we got to our gate and found some seats to wait in. Niall sat on the right side of me, Liam on the left, Zayn on the floor in front of Liam, Harry in front of me, and Louis in front of Niall.
Mr. Cloud walked over to us a few moments later, holding some papers in his hands. "I have y'all's room assignments here and I wanted to tell you them before we got on the plane. Diana, unfortunately, you'll be paired with one of these guys." He gestured to the guys sitting around me.
"Great," I laughed.
"So, we have Niall and Louis, Harry and Diana, and Liam and Zayn. Please stay out of trouble with your roommates, please," Mr. Cloud told us before walking back to where he was sitting with his wife (they were both chaperoning).
"Harry, Diana, I'm going to be keeping my eyes on you both," Liam warned jokingly. At least I thought he was joking.
Harry chuckled, shaking his head. "Don't worry, Liam. I think we'll be fine."
"Yeah, Liam. We'll be fine," I repeated smiling over at him.
"You sure? Because I remember one night when you told me--" I clamped a hand over Liam's mouth to keep him from saying anything else.
"Told you what?" Louis asked, looking between Liam and I. "What's the secret?"
"Yeah, Diana, what's the secret?" Zayn teased. I stuck my tongue out at all of them, instead of answering them.
Because if I did answer them, they would find out I have a major crush on Harry and I've had one on him ever since I met him in seventh grade. My family and I had been Christmas shopping and I went off to where they had the ice skating rink in the center of the mall. I'd seen Harry skating with his sister, and at the time I had no idea who he was.
I'd thought he was attractive so I got the courage to go on the rink and skate over to him. But when I finally made it over to where he was, I fell on the ice and got a bruise on my left butt cheek. Harry had skated over to me and helped me up and that's when I thought he was very attractive.
We'd gotten to know each other more over the course of the school year and we connected almost instantly. And now I was paired up in the same room with him for a whole month--in New York.
The boys were still persisting me to tell them the secret as we got in line to board the plane and I shook my head at them every time. Harry ended up sitting next to me on the plane--Liam somehow made that happen.
"Diana, why can't you tell us what the secret is? I mean, it's not like it will ruin your life or anything, right?" Harry joked.
Little did he know that it would ruin my life. If Harry found out, it would just make things awkward between the two of us. Not to mention the relentless teasing from the guys whenever Harry and I were even within five feet of each other.
"Do you have a crush on one of the guys or something?" Harry guessed two hours later. I rolled my eyes at him, shaking my head as I did. "Then what is it?"
"It's really nothing, Harry," I defended. He raised one of his brown eyebrows at me, clearly not buying into what I was telling him.
"Since you obviously don't want to tell me, fine, I won't force you to," Harry gave in a few seconds later.
"Thank you, Harry," I said, nodding at him before leaning back in my seat.
"What's the secret?" Harry asked a few moments later. I glanced over at him and he had a smirk on his face, the left cheek dimple being displayed for me to see and fall in love with. "I'm kidding, D."
"Sure you are," I said unconvinced.
"I'm just going to go to sleep now. I'm knackered," Harry yawned a little.
"Tired, Harry. The term is tired," I corrected. He rolled his eyes at me and closed them after, putting his head on the head rest spot. "Good night."
"Good night," he mumbled.
"Harry," I whispered two minutes later, poking his arm. When he didn't move, I poked his arm again. "Harry."
"What?" he groaned, turning to where he had his shoulders squared to the front, his eyes still closed.
"I need someone to talk to. The rest of the guys are asleep," I muttered, putting the grey tray in front of me down.
"Diana, I'm trying to sleep. I don't want to get to New York and be all sluggish," Harry said, his voice barely groggy. He was most likely about to fall asleep when I woke him up. "That isn't a really pretty sight to see."
"Please, Harry?" I pleaded. His green eyes slid over to me and I could spot little flecks of gold mixed in with the large green area of his eye. "Please? I'll make you my best friend instead of Liam."
"I heard that and over my dead body Harry's going to be your best friend," Liam said in front of me.
"Okay so the 'best friend' bribe is off the table. What if..." I trailed off, trying to come up with something.
"You'll tell me the secret that you and Liam apparently have?" Harry offered, his eyebrows raising in hope.
I squinted at him and shook my head no. "Choose something else, Styles."
"Fine. How about if I stay up, you'll take cheesy tourist pictures with me when we're in New York," Harry suggested.
I pursed my lips together, thinking about it. "Deal." I stuck my hand out for him to shake.
He smiled that million-dollar smile and shook my hand. "Deal."
