I gasp for air only to get a mouthful of water. My lungs burn, feeling like their alight with fire. Panic sets in as I try to kick at the indestructible glass that is boxed around me but not even a shudder is induced. My fingertips brush the top of the tank, sealed with yet another three inch thick glass top. I'm out of air, my chest burns and my vision falters as my brain starts to shut down. One last bubble floats from my mouth as I attempt to scream for help, banging on the glass.
This is it.
This is where I die.
My body goes limp as I lose the will to fight and I float to the bottom of the tank. In my last thoughts I think of what I've done wrong to get into this position.
FLASHBACK:
Four months ago I started to be able to see things that were slightly out of place, maybe no more than a centimeter difference. Then it quickly escalated into microscopic vision that, with practice, I was able to control fully on my own.
Too scared to tell anyone, I kept my mouth shut until one day I noticed Jessica, my friend, wave her hand in arrogance during an argument with her friend. As her hand lifted up I saw tiny swirls of air circle around it. Invisible to everyone else, I realized that what she did wasn't really happening. Thankfully, I soon found out I wasn't completely insane, it was just a packaged deal with my handy dandy vision. I learned that I can see every persons potential power.
Everybody has a power.
All powers are different. Many may be similar but no two are exactly alike.
Each person only has one power. No more, no less.
You can't choose them you are born with them.
Nobody even knows that they have such a beautifully dangerous gift.
I honestly still don't know how my power ignited, it just sort of happened one day and after I learned to control the microscopic vision and the potential power I set off to help others find there power as well.
Jessica was the first person I went to. Immediately she wanted to throw me in an asylum with the other crazy people but thankfully she let me explain. Five straight hours it took for her powers to show. Wind. At first she could only create a tornado of wind around her at the one speed of death to everything in its path. Then in the weeks to come she was able to control the speed and is now able to produce wind from her palms and control where it goes.
Quickly after that we rounded up Bradley and Megan. Bradley is tall and lean with short black hair and puppy dog brown eyes. He was an outcast, whenever you would see him he would always be alone so we took him under our wing and helped him find his temperature powers. He's able to control his own body temperature and with a lot of practice and persistence he's now able to change the temperature in the air around him as well. Megan came in shortly after him. She's a short blonde with ghostly blue eyes. She's extremely intelligent and even for her short, petite figure she can be intimidating when you first meet her. She took the least amount of time to not only find her power, but to control it too. She can produce ice which is pretty amazing if you ask me. She still to this day can't melt it down to water but she's still practicing and trying her hardest.
After that we didn't have a need to tell anybody else so we formed a little friend group of our own. We grew close in the months that we met together to practice our powers, doing our fair share of pranking each other and pulling off little stunts to people around us in school and at restaurants. Now that I think about it that is probably one of the main reasons why I am where I am today. We weren't subtle about it. Sure nobody really caught on that it was us but the pranks we pulled were unexplainable and unordinary, almost begging for attention.
