I’m nervous but excited at the same time, new school, new friends, new town, and a new country. I take a few deep breaths to calm my over-reacting nerves just as dad walked in to let me know breakfast was ready, so I pull on my clothes really quickly and go sit at the breakfast bar. Dad hands me coffee and puts the muesli and yogurt in front of me.

Grandpa told me that the bus leaves at 8:00 and takes about 45 minutes to get to the high school but dad offered to drive so I immediately took him up on that offer.

After a long nerve-wracking drive with dad to school i stepped out of the car and realised i had forgotten food. “Dad my lunch!”

“It’s ok I have some food here.” he grinned handing me a brown paper bag with what felt like had an apple and a sandwich in it.

“Thanks dad!” I hug him as he leads us to the front office. The lady at the desk tells us to take a seat. The principal came out of her office about 5 minutes later and told us to come in. It was neatly decorated and rather tidy.

The principal Ms Waters handed me a timetable, a school pack and gave my dad the latest newsletter and notes. “I hope you settle in well and please, feel free to come and see me if you have questions or concerns, ok. “She beamed.

“thanks.” I smile politely.

We walk out of the room and into the front office just as another girl walks in. “ah Lucy come over here please?” she waves Lucy over.

“Yeah Ms?” she back and forth on her toes holding her folder under her arm.

“This is Hazel Jacobs will you look after her and show her around the place?”

“Sure!” she squeals in excitement as her smile grows.

I smile politely at her then hug my dad goodbye. He whispers ‘good luck’ into my ear before letting go.

“Why don’t you come with me?” she offers me her hand, I accept and she practically drags me off to god knows where.

Lucy’s P.O.V

A new student, it’s about time and she gets to hang out with me and my group, we have cliques at this school and not meaning to brag but we are the best, by far. She is really as well, just had to say that.

“Thanks so are you.”

She must have heard me, I was thinking out loud again, oh god.

“Ha-ha thanks, I think out loud allot, ha-ha”

“Hahaha I do to sometimes and most of the time it’s embarrassing stuff, hehehe”

We erupt into a fit of giggles.

“So your locker number is 224, so you just turn it to 2, then 2 and then 4 and ta-dah.”

“I have never had a locker before!” She exclaimed, I stared at her, mouth gaping.

“I thought all American schools had lockers judging by the movies made there!”I shrugged and told her which books she would need for the first three periods.

Once that was sorted we walked to our homeroom class, where the teacher Mr Harris introduces her to the class. A few boys looked her up and down, others wolf-whistled and the rest just didn’t look like they cared to be honest.

Hazel’s P.O.V

I sit down in the cafeteria with Lucy and she introduces me to all of her friends: Brad-the bad boy, McKenna-Brad’s girl, Izzy- the fashionista, Jake-Lucy’s boyfriend, Darcy-the goody-2-shoes and Ally-the quiet one. They are all easy to make conversation with and they all seem really nice and funny, I’m thinking maybe this move was good after all...

I zone out as I start to remember the time Tyler nearly forced me to do “it” with him.

“Come on baby, just come upstairs.” His words slurred as he speaks, he was only 17 but that doesn’t stop him and his mates getting drunk at a party on a Friday night.

“No Tyler, your drunk.” I stand my ground, as he grabs my forearm dragging me to an empty room in the strangers’ house.

“No I’m not, I’m sober now.” His words still slightly slurred.

“No, I want to go home, how am I going to get home now?”

“I’ll drive!” he flashed his perfect teeth at me.

“No way!” I folded my arms across my chest.

“I’ll call a cab?”He said although it came out more like a question.

“Oookaaay.” I sighed, giving in.

It was 15 minute drive back to my place; Tyler obviously didn’t want to leave so i dumped a few blankets on the couch for him and walked upstairs to my pyjamas on. Just as i pulled my shirt up my arms I felt a pair of hands travel up my sides and grab the hem of my shirt pulling it down over my head and back.

“Tyler!” I jump. “You scared me!” my heart beating really fast.

“Sorry I just...” he trailed off.

“Just what?”

“I wanted to see you.” He said seductively.

“Tyler? What ar.” He cut me off by lifting the hem of my shirt.

“Tyler stop it, please.” I tried pushing his muscular frame away from me, but he wrapped his arms around my figure, enclosing the space between us. He turned me around quickly and crashed his lips to mine, I resist as much as possible, knowing he still drunk and won’t remember this tomorrow.

“Baby come on, I know you want to.” He tries to pull me closer and push myself back as much as possible.

“No, I want to go to sleep. Please just go sleep on the couch.”

“No come on.” He takes my hand and walks me towards the bed.

“Tyler, no, STOP, I don’t want to do anything.” I practically beg, trying to get out of the bedroom. “Tyler please let me go.” I wince, hurt evident in my voice from the death grip that was currently on my wrist.

“No Hazel, not until you make me feel good.” I cringe at his suggestion.

“NO!” I shout turning on my heel and sprinting out the door, but not before his arms are around my stomach and shoulders, encasing me once again.

“Hazel, Hazel?”

“Hazel!” I snap back to reality, shuddering at the memory.

“Are you alright?” Ally questions, worry in voice.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” My voice sounding more confident than I was.

“Ha-ha, ok, well it’s time to go to class, so let’s go.” Jake says, standing up, giving Lucy a quick peck before saying he’ll see her later. I follow suit and head off to maths with Lucy.
