Chapter 20: Enough
Blake's Pov
After we got out of the car, Noah kept his arm around Chloe's shoulder as we walked up to the diner. He even held the door open for her when we went inside.
Why are they becoming more friendly with her all of a sudden. I don't mind them being nice to her, it's just... they're a little too nice, that's all.
We sat at a booth that seated four. Vin and Noah sat by the window across from each other while Chloe and I also sat across from each other.
Vin kept being all flirty and touchy with Chloe and it was just annoying the hell out of me. I don't know why though. I had this strong urge to punch him in the face but I didn't. He's one of my best friends, I couldn't do that just because he was... looking at her the way he is now. I had to calm myself down before I did something I'd regret.
Thank god for the waitress who just walked up to our table, distracting me from whatever was happening across the table.
I looked at her and smiled, then I realized that I've seen this girl before. Just last night, at the party. The girl who was with Chloe.
What a small world this is. While Chloe and the girl were talking, I noticed Vin looking at the girl a little too much. The look in his eyes told me that he liked this girl.
An idea popped into my head... I think it's time I got on someone's nerves. She took our orders and I smirked, looking her in the eyes. "Thanks.. Claire." I said, reading her name tag. "Beautiful name."
She blushed and walked away. Mission accomplished. I looked at Vin and he no longer had that smug look on his face. He was glaring at me.
How do you like it? Shoe's on the other foot. We had just got done eating when Claire rushed over and grabbed Chloe's arm. "Can I talk to you for a second?" She smiled at us, hiding what she was really feeling.
Something was up, I can always tell. Chloe looked at the three of us. "You guys can wait outside if you want, I'll be back in a minute." She got up and they walked away.
I looked at them. "Am I the only one that noticed how urgent she looked?"
Noah put his hand on my shoulder. "Man stop thinking that there's a threat every five minutes."
I looked at Chloe while she was talking to Claire. She locked eyes with me for a second, then looked away. "Well maybe because there usually is." They walked away and went around the wall, to another section of the diner.
"They're probably just talking about girl stuff." Noah said.
"Blake's right, something was a little off, but Chloe can probably handle it. Come on, let's go to the car." Vin slid out of the booth and stood up.
We stood up and followed him to the door. That look on Chloe's face popped into my head. The look in her eyes was the same look she gets when something is bothering her.
