I walked through the halls, the other students whispering as I passed them. "Is that Desdemona Blackwood?"
"Yeah, I hear she's the Devils daughter..."
"But she's too sweet looking, the Devils daughter would be much more imitating, but I hear that she never smiles..." My anger stirred, but I pushed it down; it's better for them to underestimate me then to know what I am capable of, but they shouldn't be talking behind my back. I heard two other students down the hall whispering and giggling to themselves, too bad they were giggling about the wrong person. I strolled up to them, a blank look on my face. "I'm guessing you girls are the queen bees here? Well let's just get something completely sorted out." I wrapped a hand around each of their necks and slammed them against the lockers "Do not talk about me, do not look at me the wrong way, do not think bad about me, because I will know. Are we clear?" I could see their faces start to turn blue so I released wiping my hands off on to my jeans. "And don't wear so much make-up, it's disgusting when someone grabs your neck and takes some of it with them." I sauntered away, leaving an entire school in a fearful wake.*two years later*
I still walk through these halls, but with much more ease with people getting out of my way. I stopped and leaned against my locker listening for new blackmail to use, when I picked up something unexpected. "I hear there's an archangel's son here, I just hope he's better mannered than DesDemona." My hand quickly shot out to the young boys neck gripping it tightly. "We have a rule here freshman, do not talk about me, got it? Good now run before my bad manners do come out." I watched as the boy and his friend ran for their lives out of my eyesight, when a small chuckle came from behind me. "Now that wasn't very nice, you must be DesDemona, the Devils daughter. I'm calling you Des, but where are my manners? My name is Arlo Faye, but you can call me Arry." Arlo held out his hand for me to shake, I looked at him blankly. "No thanks Faye, we're not friends so drop the stupid nicknames," I pushed his hand away. "I don't like you so don't try to be my friend." I pushed past him and walked away, heading to my English class, wnen I felt the presents of another person next to me. "Why are you following me Faye?" I spat at him venom dripping from my voice, he looked at me and smiled slinging his arm around my shoulders. "We have English together Des, and you know where it is." he winked at me and pulled me into his side. He was persistent, I'd give him that, but it doesn't mean I'm going to be his friend. I pushed myself out from under his arm. "Arms length Faye, don't touch me." He rolled his eyes at me, but kept a safe space between us. People looked at us as we walked by, but didn't say anything, they knew better. We were just about there when Maria stepped in front of me, stopping us from going any further. "And to think we even thought about being scared of a demon who's friends with an angel" she laughed a couple of people laugh along with her but the majority staying silent like they should. "I'm not friends with him, he's following me." I stood up straight and looked down at the siren who I towered over. "If you want to show him around then do it, you'd take a pest out of my life." I felt Arlo's gaze on me, but I didn't care he didn't matter to me. I pushed pasted both of them walking into my classroom alone as always and sat in the back of the classroom, shoving my headphones into my ears and putting my feet in my desk. My teacher avoided eye contact with me and started the class, Arlo like I presumed sat with the popular kids, what I did was a test to as if he was serious about being close to me, but like everyone else before him he failed.
I closed my eyes with the thought only opening them when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I opened one eye to see Arlo there a bright smile on his face. "We're partners Des, for the rest of the year, which means no more slacking off for you" I looked at him like he was brain dead, I wasn't aware of any partner projects in this class. My gaze shifted towards the teacher who was shifting nervously looking a little dazed and sighed, she didn't warn me. I groaned and turned back to Arlo with a small glare. "This isn't some fantasy novel and she doesn't allow us to pick partners what did you do to her?" He smiled mischievously "I might've used magic to persuade her choices." My jaw almost dropped. "You're telling me that you, an angel who's supposed to be all goodie two shoes, used magic to persuade our teacher just so you could be my partner?" I almost laughed, he really was trying to be my friend. "Listen Faye, I see that you're trying to be my friend, but an angel and a demon are just not meant to be friends, I'll be you're partner, but outside of this class leave me alone I'm not looking for an angel friend." He smiled and slid into the desk next to me. "Alight Dessy-bear I'll leave you alone outside of this class" I rolled my eyes at the nickname and for out my notebook, "Alright Arry-boo tell me what this project is about"
Arlo spent the rest of the period describing the project to me, it was apparently about Shakespearean plays and we had to act one out. Luckily Maria already took Romeo and Juliet so Arlo couldn't force me to do that god aweful kissing scene.
Arlo was going on about hamlet when I put a finger over his mouth to shut him up. "Why don't we do Macbeth, they're both tragedys," I knew a lot about Shakespeare, and knew almost all of his plays by heart, Arlo looked at me like I grew a second head. "You know Shakespearean plays?" He sounded actually shocked, I glared at him. "Yes I do, I'm not uneducated like most of the twat wads are" My temper was hitting an all time high this year with the statement.
He was about to say something when the bell rung "Class is over Faye now leave me the fuck alone" I stood up and walked out the room before he could even protest, I didn't want to deal with him anymore, I wanted to find out why I was so bothered he assumed assumes I knew nothing about Shakespeare. My anger was rolling off me in waves so as per usual the hallways were void of all life except an annoying little voice calling me a stupid nickname from behind me.
