--April 25th, 2068--

Today is the first day of the war. Dad has traveled all the way to India with his troops. Their plan is to stop the Enemy Alliance and rescue immigrants, or at least that's what dad told me.
I hear Mom talking on the phone, about the broadcast earlier. President Sanders told the citizens of America to stay indoors until the mission is complete. She says it makes no sense. It really doesn't. If the troops are going to India, then why do we have to stay indoors? It could be months until the war is over, and we hardly have any supplies to last a week. Mom is worried, but Dad said that he'll be back soon and everything will be okay. I hope he writes back to us, I'm scared.

I sat on my bed, reading a book when I hear Mom come in, "Lulu," she says "your stupid dog got out again." I sighed and put down my book, heading out the door. I look out the window to see Spike, my chihuahua, running in the yard, chasing a leaf. I slip on some boots and hurry outside. I look around to make sure the police aren't nearby. I run over to Spike, grabbing him then taking off into the house. I put him down and he decides to bark at my cat, Fay. The two of them are best friends, somehow. They usually get in the treat bag and share, which I find funny.

As I sit in my room, reading my book, my younger sister, Jennifer, comes in. "What do you want, Jenny?" I ask, plopping my book onto my lap. She wipes her curly black hair off her face, "Do you think daddy will be okay?" She asks. I sigh and put my book aside. "Jenny, you and I know dad's gonna be okay." I said, she sits at the foot of my bed, staring up at me with her hazel eyes. She sighs before saying, "I'm just worried." "Of course you're worried, we all are." I said. Fay walks in and hops onto my bed, curling up next to my pillows. Jenny frowns and walks away, then comes back in, "You need to feed Fay."

I watch the moon glow as the starts around it twinkle. It's around 11:27 pm and I feel my eyelids grow heavy. I hold onto the stuffed elephant Dad gave me, wishing he comes back safe. I see the lights of a plane fly by, slowly. I hear Fay jump onto my bed, she claws at the blankets before laying down. She purrs next to my leg, I stare at her, before looking back up into the night. I look to find the constellations, one of my favorite night hobbies to do. I would lay on the ground with Dad and we would look for them, but that was when he was deployed to Iraq, ever since he changed. Changed or not, he's still my dad, and he still loves me the same. The stars remind me of him.
