28. Broken up

Brian's POV
"Hey look. It's Brian!!" Someone yells.

I stare at him. He backs off. I look around. Andy and Matthew aren't here, probably upstair. The rest count up to forty. Alicia's been recruiting. Patrick runs up the stairs.

"Wait. I've fought him before. I know how he fights." He says.

Oh really?" I think.

I run toward him at top speed. The speed of sound. He dodges the first blow. He barely dodges the second. He lands on his feet and turns around to face me. I charge at him and fake a punch and kick out with my foot. He flies into a column. He slowly rises. I throw my sword at him. He dives to the ground. I run up and kick him in his stomach. Not very hard. I don't want to hurt him. I only need to knock him out. It works. He flies into another column. There, he collapses into a heap of rubble.

"He thought he could beat me?" I mutter, "there probably isn't anyone here who can."

Everyone else looks at each other as if agreeing with me. They all take another step back.

"Thought so." I say. I grab Patrick by his cloak and I close my eyes. I float up and through the ceiling. When I reach the ground floor, I go through the doors. Out to finish my plan.

Alicia's POV
"No, no, no!!" Matthew yells. He grabs a table and throws it across the room, "none of you could stop him?!?"

We all look down at out feet.

"Patrick tried..." I offer.

"And what happened to him?"

"Well... He was knocked unconscious and kidnapped by Brian." Someone else says.

"I expected more of you Alicia!" He yells. Why does he target me?

"Well how do you expect me to beat him when you couldn't!" I yell back.

Matthew storms to his bedroom muttering obscenities and slams the door shut.

"What now..."

We race through the plains. All forty of us. If Matthew won't help, we'll do it ourselves. We run until we see the edge of the forest. It's about noon so we take a short break and continue on our way. If we find Brian, we're going to take back everyone he kidnapped.
