Chapter Two: Disappearing Sweetrolls

A few days later, I had completely forgotten about the Presence I had discovered. I was back to my normal ways: stealing every sweet roll in sight. You see, I had had a slight addiction to sweetrolls since I had first tasted one. I loved the oh-so-sweet sugar powder, the delicious filling... The mead dripping off of it... But that's all not relevant. But, what is relevant, is the strange happening on one of the days I was out stealing sweetrolls. I was standing next to a guard, making small talk with him.

He told me, "let me guess. Someone stole your sweetroll?"

I laughed and replied, "no, someone has stolen your sweetroll!" I then proceeded to grab it right out of his hand, and covered it up with a cough.

The guard looked confused. "Where the hell did my sweetroll go?" He asked, staring at his now empty hand. I pointed toward the market bazaar in the central part of Vivec. "The thief went that way," I told him.

The guard ran off in the direction I was pointing. When he was out of view, I took a bite of the sweetroll I had stolen from him, savoring its taste. But right when I was about to take another bite, it was gone!

Thinking someone had stolen it, I turned around, scanning the surrounding area for any potential pickpockets. Alas, I found no trace of the thief.

Sighing, I sat onto the ground and meditated. I liked meditating, it helped me to calm down.
Seconds after I had begun to meditate, I felt the presence again. But this time I knew it was not an echo. It was far too powerful for that. Pretending not to notice, I started levitating into the air, high above all of the buildings in the city. The presence flitted through the air, directly towards me. I stretched out the palm of my hand and it stopped, as if hitting an invisible brick wall. Then, I tried to erase it from existence with the help of CHIM. But my attempts were in vain. The presence refused to be erased. It broke through the wall of force I had set in front of it, and set its smoke-black hands onto my shoulders. For some reason, this drained my power greatly. I took one last look at its ghastly red eyes, but then my own eyes rolled back into my head, and I blacked out...
