"Concentrate Thalia."

Elliot's voice sounds far away and distorted like he's talking under water, which he can can do (of course.) "Focus, focus on an image that reminds you of pain."

I drop my hands by my side and sigh as I rest my head on a tree behind me. "I'm never going to be able to do this. It's useless, you're just wasting your time," I complain "also why do I have to focus on pain, it's stupid, and why do I have to practice in the middle of nowhere it's cold out here."

Elliot just smiled at me and when he noticed my expression he threw his head back laughing. "You look like a 3 year old pouting like that. And to answer your questions sad thoughts are the ones that fill you with the most passion and give you something to channel the power into, and you could practice at your house but don't come crying to me when your room gets destroyed."he reasoned.

"Sounds like you know from experience." I retorted as I stand up straight and try to pay attention again out of the corner of my eye I notice how Elliot suddenly looks like a little kid being caught doing something he shouldn't, it was my turn to laugh at him.

I raise my hand, my left one the one with the scar, and take a deep breath in.

"Good." Elliot praised as he walked around me in a circle stopping by my left shoulder " now." I close my eyes and feel a tugging sensation in my stomach, as if someone was pulling a rope tighter and tighter around my waist, I breath out and think of my brother.

I snap my eyes open and feel my hair start to swirl and my skirt starting to shift. It worked. It actually worked. I laugh as I see the twisting air around my that's dancing and follow ing the movement of my hand. It only lasts a few seconds, then my focus is lost, but it doesn't matter. As soon as I turn to face Elliot he pulls me into a hug and I stumble backwards almost losing my balance.

"That was amazing! Now remember what I said -"

"Practice. I know you tell me every time now stop ruining the moment. Now let's go I'm freezing out here."

10 minutes and a lot of running later and Elliot and I arrived at Olivia's house, panting and laughing. I reached up to knock on the door but a wave of pain washes over me as I start to fall back.

"Woah, careful there. You just controalled air for the first time and then ran about 2 miles ." I hear as Elliot grabs my arm and pulls me upright.

"Yeah, I noticed." I reach up to rub my pounding head and the door in front of us abruptly swings open hitting the wall with a thud.

"THALIA!" Olivia pulled my into a hug while greeting me with an excited scream.

"You guys are weird," Elliot states as he leans on the door frame " you saw her yesterday. Also I'm offended, are you not excited to see me?"

Olivia steps away from me and bats her eyelashes at Elliot. "Maybe I am and you just can't tell."

"No, no this is not happening you guys can flirt some other time when I'm not here." I push past Olivia and walk into her hallway. This place is like my second home and Olivia is like a sister that I never had.

"So what are we doing tonight?"

"I don't know maybe makeovers?" Olivia asks hopefully. "

"Erm no."

"Please. Pretty please you never let me do your make up." She pleads, I roll my eyes.

"Am I going to regret saying yes?"

"I'm offended that you think that you would be."

"Umm ladies," Elliot waves his hand between our faces " I think that's my cue to leave so I'll see you tomorrow Thalia."

"Bye, and thanks." I call as Elliot winks and disappears behind the closing door.

"So Thalia something you're not telling me ?"

"About what?"

"About you and Elliot."

"Olivia are you asking to be slapped."

"Do I look like I am,"She grabs my hand and drags me up the stairs "now we need to pick you out a dress." I groan as I get dragged into her room.

"Really?" "

"Really!"
