Epilogue

As I stared at the picture of my mother and father, a smile slid across my face, as my eyes began to water.

I did it Mom and Dad! I finally did!

The vampire human treaty had been passed through government yesterday, officially put into action today. Two years after that one, horrible and beautiful Halloween. On my wedding day.

I smiled again. Mom and Dad would be so proud if they were here right now. They wouldn't care if my groom was a vampire, as long as I was happy with him. I could picture them now, as if they were still alive. My mom would be fluttering around me, making my hair fall just so, and my dress look just right, while my dad would be standing in the background, beaming proudly.

A tear slid down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it away. There would be many more of those tonight, but they would be caused by happiness.

I stood up, turning to the people waiting behind me. My bridesmaids. Kianna, Savannah, and Raeanne. She had become a very close friend over the years, and had been excepted graciously into our group of friends. By Nate, in particular. Their wedding was scheduled in two months, on the day they met.

I looked at Ki first, who had tears freely flowing down her cheeks. She smiled and then ran for me, enveloping my in a giant hug.

"I am so happy for you. You look beautiful."

I hugged her back, trying to hold back my tears and avoid ruining my makeup to no avail.

"Your day will come soon," I said as she reluctantly pulled away so someone else could congratulate me. I bent down and whispered into her ear, "I see the way you and Blake look at each other."

She giggled sheepishly, wiping away the tear tracks on her cheek. "Thanks."

Next, Savannah came up to me, a little more calmly then Ki had. "Congratulations," she whispered, hugging me. "I never thought it possible, but you made it happen."

"Thank you."

She stepped reluctantly away, and Raeanne stepped forward, carefully hugging me. I hugged her back, easing her tension. She still couldn't quite believe that I was choosing to be friends with her, even when I didn't have to, but i was working on that. "Thank you for choosing me as one of your bridesmaids," she said, sounding like she was choking back tears.

I squeezed her tighter. "It wouldn't feel like my wedding without you."

She smiled and stepped back, wiping her tears.

I looked at all of them, tears brimming in my eyes, and couldn't think of anything adequate enough to express my love for them. So I settled with an emotion filled, "Thank you."

They all nodded, wiping at there eyes, and smiled. I smiled too. It felt like that was all I could do today, smile and cry. My smile just wouldn't leave.

"I'm ready," I said nervously, wanting to see Damien.

It's our wedding, I thought, the depth of that realization stunning. By the end of the night, I'm going to be married to the man I love. More happy tears welled up and my smile grew.

Nate came in the room, looking handsome in his tux.The first person his eyes found was Raeanne, which I knew was a good sign. His face lit up into a grin and he walked over to her, kissing her gently. I looked away, the moment to intimate for me to watch.
