I sighed as I got off the bus, dragging my purple suitcase and shifting my increasingly heavy backpack.
I had pretty much everything I owned in that suitcase, that backpack and my purse.
I struggled to carry it all down the street, looking for the correct address.
1058 Rainbow Boulevard.
Really? Who names a street after a trick of the light?
Finally, I got to the correct destination.
It was a rather large house with a bay window looking out onto the street, a big front porch, and a deck.
A young boy was sitting out on the deck. He looked about nine.
The kid was cleaning a gun!
He looked up.
Then I realized he had a paintball gun.
"WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!" he screamed at me. I jumped back, just a bit alarmed by his sudden outburst.
"YOU'RE NEW HERE, RIGHT?!" he yelled.
I nodded
He opened the door for me.
"GO IN!"
I walked in. In the living room, there was a sofa, on which a blonde girl and a brown haired boy were chatting.
I realized the girl wasn't sitting. She was FLOATING. Yes. Floating about three inches off the sofa.
"Zephyr, I'm sorry!" the boy said agitatedly.
The girl looked at him, studying him coolly
"No, no, it's okay. I understand. You want to be with that Tally. And I guess I must be okay with that" she said.
"I told you! I don't know where Tally got that love potion!" Cody yelped.
I blinked. First that Zephyr girl floating, now potions?
As if on cue, Zephyr whirled around.
"Oh, hello" she drawled "You must be new here"
Zephyr gained a few inches of height, how she floated off the ground like that. She had fine, platinum blonde hair. And very bright, harsh, icy eyes.
She had the look of one of those street gang kids. The kind that are coldhearted, tough and merciless.
Instantly, I felt sorry for the guy she was arguing with.
"I'm Zephyr" she said tonelessly, almost mockingly.
"I'm Cody!" the boy she had been chatting with piped up.
He looked much friendlier, with green eyes and spiky dark brown hair.
"J'MAPPELLE NEO!" the kid that opened the door shouted
I didn't know what he said.
"Uh... Well.. My name's Luma" I said.
Something about these people seemed oddly familiar...
Zephyr smirked.
"About time you got here. Ella's been chomping at the bit to meet her roommate" Zephyr drawled. Then she noticed my purple hair.
"Luma?!" she exclaimed "As in Luma Borealis?"
I bit my lip.
"How do you know my last name?" I asked.
Zephyr frowned, then muttered
"Flick's not gonna like this.."
