Second Thought

There was one thing though. Gray wasn't like Natsu. Gray didn't drink human blood. He decided it was better to drink animal blood. It wasn't the same, but it kept him alive. He liked living that way because no one had to get injured. He saved many lives like that, but Natsu didn't care how many people he killed. He was selfish and never gave it a second thought. But Gray had learned to tolerate Natsu, and sometimes he even managed to hold him back. Of course, that was years back. and Natsu was stronger than Gray because of his diet. But Gray made the best of it. They were there for each other. Just like brothers.

Natsu went off to town to find a young girl to kill. He specially like feeding on young girls. Gray went of the forest to find a squirrel or bunny. Whatever came out first, he hunted down and ate.

As Natsu walked through town trying to find a distracted girl, he found the perfect one. Walking on the sidewalk, was a blonde. He immediately made his way to her. He tapped her on the shoulder so she could turn around and he could use his compulsion to make her go with him somewhere so that he could kill her. When she turned around, he was surprised to see who it was.

"Lucy. Hi."

"Natsu. Where you headed?"

"Looking for a bite to eat."

"Ohh. Well, I'm actually headed to the café right now. Wanna join me?"

"Well, I think I should actually go back. My brother is home and I promised I would spend time with him. It's been a while."

"Okay. Bye" she said turning around to continue walking.

"Wait!" he said, holding her shoulder.

"Maybe some other time."

"Okay."

He smiled.

He made his way back home to where Gray was once again waiting for his return.

"Home so soon?"

"Yeah. Lost my appetite."

"Are you sure you didn't run into...Lucy?"

All Natsu did was look at him and sit on the couch after helping himself to some wine.

"You know, I'm glad you found her. She actually might be able to change you since I couldn't."

"I don't change for any one, Gray."

"Mm. We'll see about that" he said getting up and going to his room. Natsu stayed in the living room, thinking if Gray could be right. He loved who he was. He wasn't going to change. But maybe for her. For her, he actually gave it a second thought.

The next day at school, Natsu hoped to be able to talk some more to Lucy. He really wanted to get to know her. He grabbed a blood bag and left immediately after changing. Gray was also supposed to go to school there but he decided to skip another day. Gray was quiet lazy sometimes or he could be really energized. Either one. The fact that he drank animal blood was part of his mood. It changed almost every day. He also changed, but instead of blood, he just drank wine. He didn't feel like feeding at the moment, so he just didn't eat.

The truth was, Gray hated what he was. Even though he always said he loved it and that iwas the best thing that could happen to him. He hated having to kill. He hated that he had to feed on living innocent things. And even though Natsu said the same, Gray knew that Natsu hated what he was too. He might act cool and like a total bad boy, but he hated being the way he was. He said he loved being a Vampire because he though that by saying it, it would make him feel better. But deep down, he knew it didn't. He knew he would give anything to not be what he was. Truth was,

He would kill his way to heaven.

They only said they loved for the fact that it might make the feel better, but it didn't. No matter what they said. No matter what had been said in the past. They hated themselves, but they covered it up.

When Natsu got to school, Lucy and her friend were sitting on a table outside talking.

"Ohh look, that's the guy was talking to you about, Erza" said Levy looking in Natsu's direction.

Erza turned around and looked at Natsu as he walked in the school.

"WOAH. He's hot."

"Everything okay, Lucy. You seem quiet?"

"Yeah yeah, I'm okay" said Lucy rubbing her neck with her hand.

"I think you guys could really hit it off" said Erza looking at Lucy.

"No. Never. He's not my type."

"Since when do you have a type?!" said Levy.

The girls laughed. They had known each other since the day they were born. They were best friends. Past them, walked Jellal. The captain of the football team. The past summer, Jellal and Lucy had been dating, but they broke up due to the situation that Lucy had to go through and had said she needed some space. They had liked each other very much and they were both very hurt after what had happened.

"Oh, please. Don't let him ruin your day."

"Your right, Levy. I'm not gonna let him bring me down."

The girls got up and went into the school to gather their things from their lockers before class started. Lucy was surprised to see that her neighbor was the best distraction. She looked at him, thinking that he hadn't noticed, but just as she was leaving, he called out to her.

"There you go looking again."

"Yeah. Sorry."

"Why? Because I'm good looking?"

"Uhh-"

"I'm just kidding. But you.. you looking stunning" he said grabbing her hair and smelling it.

"Thank you."

"A pleasure" he said with a grin.

He walked away heading to class thinking about how good her hair smelled. She staid standing looking at him walk away, then turned around to go back to her friends who were already together looking at her smiling and giggling at how Natsu had flirted with her.

"Really guys?"

"DID YOU SEE THAT?!?! SO CUTE!!!"

"Ugh."

Lucy walked away with a smile from he friends and headed to class where Natsu would be waiting to stare at her beauty.
