the diner girl is always smiling.

Her smiles aren't cheap like the vodkas my father used to drink at midnight. Her smiles aren't poisonous, for she gives a piece of her heart in every upward turn of her raspberry lips. But they are intoxicating, in a very pleasant and silent way. I can see her surrounded by lonely smoke of middle aged and withering men. Her glow pulls everyone into her embracing smile, and instantly we don't feel that lonely anymore. It's assuringly strange.

At least that's what i thought.

🌒

At 3 am, i seek refuge at the diner. Or maybe i am just looking for that familiar warm smile to soothe the white noises inside my head.

I sit at the same place ; two tables away from the bar, in the left corner. Then i search for her.

She's called Yongsun.

It's a pretty name, i muttered under my breath.

🌒

I almost can't believe it when you sit in front of me. With that blinding smile of yours, you ask me for a name.

🌒

"The moon that i see every night glows with pride. She's brave for being up there all alone, you know. The stars are out of her reach, and worst part is, her lover, the sun, is also not there to kiss her loneliness away."

I ponder about it for a while.

"Maybe the moon isn't lonely at all?"

You laugh.

But i'm not that moon, unfortunately.

"That doesn't help much, right."

Moonbyul chuckles bitterly.

"I can keep you company, miss Moon."

Moonbyul can see stars sprinkled on Yongsun's irises. Her raspberry lips are once again turned upwards. The diner girl's words are so gentle, they tickle Moonbyul's dimmed heart.

"Don't you ever feel tired smiling all the time?"

Yongsun's eyes don't waver one bit.

"They numb it away."

And i guess that is your flaw.
